‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Easter Egg That Everyone Missed

Many of you may have missed easter eggs in the first part of the new Spider-Man franchise. The most prominent one among those revolves around Damage Control. Before the release of Spider-Man Homecoming, it was rumored that the famed Damage Control was going to make an appearance in the movie.

Spider-Man: Homecoming Easter Egg

Diehard Marvel fans know Damage Control as a government-sanctioned company that specializes in repairing the damage caused by fighting between the superheroes and their gallery of rogues. In the 1980’s Damage Control had their own comic strip for a brief period. It was a humorous take on the world of superheroes through the eyes of a repair company which was responsible for the clean-up after massive battles between the good and bad guys, which left a lot of destruction in their wake.

So naturally at the beginning of the Homecoming, when they showed up at the Toomes site and took over his operations, the fans were overjoyed at this apparent subplot. In the film, it was stated that Damage Control was established by Tony Stark, in the aftermath of the attack on New York. If you take a closer look, the same people led by the same woman were present at the ATM site too, in the aftermath of the fiasco there. The woman is Anne Marie Hoag, and she leads Damage Control as its head. She was portrayed by actress Tyne Dally.

In the two instances of their presence in the movie, fans can note the stark difference between their demeanor on both the scenes which took place some time apart. It clearly shows a more confident Damage Control with sharper focus who by now have grown accustomed to their job as compared to the beginning of the film. It might be even possible that they are more professional by now and if given a chance, would have handled Toome played by Michael Keaton in a much better way, which might have saved everyone a lot of trouble.

While their appearance and taking over of Toomes work sent him on a villainous spiral and set the plot of the film, it seems Marvel is not done with them yet. They are expected to play a larger role in the coming Marvel movies, or there could be a spin-off like the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Also in 2015    ABC ordered a put pilot for the live-action Marvel Television comedy series Damage Control, developed by Ben Karlin. However, it was later shelved, and DC later beat them to it with its show Powerless. Still, we are keeping our fingers crossed.

It remains to be seen what role they play in the next Spider-Man movie, titled Far From Home in which the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man goes on a global adventure. Though the fans will agree on one thing, nothing compares to the “global adventure” which our beloved hero went on in Infinity War saga. It left him feeling not so good and broke our hearts when he withered away into dust.

Spider-Man Far From Home releases on July 5th, 2019.
