Kdrama romance is coming to India. In a recent announcement made by JTBC, Jung Hae In and Son Ye Jin’s hit romance drama Something In The Rain will get an Indian remake. On February 21, JTBC Studios announced that their hit 2018 drama would get an Indian makeover. With Kdrama’s popularity growing in India, the fans are crazily excited for further news on the remake.

Both Kdramas and Indian Entertainment are famous for their dramas and fluttering romance. With Something In The Rain having an emotional and heartwarming plot, Kdrama lovers would love to see it getting an Indian touch.

‘Something In the Rain’ tells the romantic relationship between Yoon Jin Ah (Son) and her best friend’s younger brother Seo Joon Hae (Jung). It showcases the relationship between an older woman and a man younger than her.

On Monday, JTBC shared a statement announcing that India’s largest digital company, Pocket Aces, will have a local adaptation of their 2018 romance drama. This will mark JTBC’s first venture into the Indian market.

JTBC’s CEO Jung Kyung Moon stated that the latest collaboration would be an essential step for them to get into the dynamic Indian market. Furthermore, he said that JTBC Studio’s box office IP and  Pocket Ace’s excellent production capabilities would help in making more projects in the future.

However, Something In The Rain is not the first Kdrama/K-content to get a revamped Indian version. Earlier, the 2005 film, ‘A Bittersweet Life,’ headlining  Lee Byung Hun, Shin Min Ah, and Kim Yeong Cheol, was adopted by the Indian Cinema. It resulted in the 2007 film ‘Awarapan,’ starring Shriya Saran, Emraan Hashmi, Ashutosh Rana, and Mrinalini Sharma.

A romantic relationship between an older woman and a younger man is often frowned upon, especially in Asian culture. The drama was impactful and a huge success in South Korea. We look forward to seeing it carrying its legacy in India too.

Further details on the Indian remake of Something In The Rain will be provided by Pocket Aces, and we will make sure to update you. In the meantime, watch Son Ye Jin in Thirty-Nine here.
