It has lost two of its gems on the same day! Soon after the heart-wrenching news surfed on the internet, the broken fans had flooded the online platforms with their tributes. Fans said that the Ball of the Century will be missed! That Ball is the name that was given to a cricket delivery on 4th June 1993 bowled by none other than the legendary Australian spin bowler Shane Warne to English batsman Mike Gatting!

Shane Keith Warne who was born on 13th September 1969 was found unresponsive in his villa in Koh Samui, Thailand on 4th March 2022. Unfortunately, even after the best efforts of medical staff, the legend could not be revived, says Warne’s management statement to an Australian media outlet. Further, the statement adds that the family is requesting privacy and would provide further details as soon as possible! Shane Warne died following a suspected heart attack.

Though not much is known at this moment, it would be worth mentioning that even after taking both the vaccine jabs, Warney had contracted Covid-19 last year in August. And it had potentially deteriorated his condition which he revealed a month after contracting the virus. Moreover, he revealed that his condition was worsened to the level that he had to be put on a ventilator! A few days earlier only the news had come that Shane Warne was keen to become England’s next head coach but now he is no more! The sudden loss of a legend had shocked the entire cricketing fraternity!

Shane Warne was considered the greatest leg-spinner of all time! He captained the Australian national team in One Day Internationals (ODI). He was retired as Test cricket’s second-most productive wicket-taker. In his 15 year-long career, he represented Australia in 145 Tests and 194 ODI. Additionally, it would be worth telling that he ended his career with 1001 wickets in all formats.
