As the name may give an idea, Away is a Sci-fi series that tells us a space exploration story—created by Jessica Goldberg and Andrew Hinderaker. We see Emma Green, an American astronaut, setting off for a year-long mission from the international space crew and having to leave behind everyone she loves, including her husband and her daughter.
Away follows the struggles of astronauts when they have to set off for the space mission. In the only first season, we see the crew preparing for an expedition to Mars. The crew includes a Chinese chemist a British botanist. While he is a world-famous botanist, he still has no previous experience in space.
The crew also includes a Russian cosmonaut, an Indian medical officer, and American commander Emma Green. While some members have previous space exploration experiences, some are going for space exploration for the first time. While the series was canceled on its first season itself, it is still worth watching.
Andromeda
While this may be a bit old, Andromeda is still worth checking out if you are a fan of the sci-fi elements in Raised by Wolves. Based on the unused material by the late Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, Andromeda tells a futuristic story that takes place thousands of years from the present.
The series tells a story of the war between the people in space against the predatory humanoid species with bat-like faces. We are not talking a deep dive into the series as there are a lot of events to be covered. While the series is more than two decades old, it still holds pretty good storytelling to keep you watching.
