Saturday Night Live Season 47 Episode 8 sees one of the biggest pop stars in the world right now joining the center stage. We already know how fun she could get and are looking forward to the same energy in the skits. Apart from that, she will also be performing songs from her latest album that debuted at the top of Billboard 200 this year. Before we revealed that name, we had quite a show before SNL goes on a two-week break. Thanks to Shang-Chi and The Legend Of Ten Rings, star Simu Liu joining in.
Its been one kind of journey for Simu Liu to get where he is today. He talked about the same in his opening monologue. Then we had skits where he saw him presenting the United States with one of his strongest weapons to performing at a Karaoke with the SNL cast. Then also competing against Ego to figure out who is Republican and who is not—lastly, pranking her after smoking a joint at a Friendsgiving with the cast. Here is a look at what went down before we move to Saturday Night Live Season 47 Episode 8.
Saturday Night Live S47 E07 Recap
Previously on Saturday Night Live Season 47, we opened up with Justice With Judge Jeanine! From bringing Chloe Fineman and Chris Redd playing two liberals by fooling them. To James Austin Johnson as Donald Trump talking about an infrastructure bill. Cecily Strong has been at the top of her game in these segments. Then Simu Liu joined in with his opening monologue talking about how he grabbed the role for Marvel’s Shang-Chi and The Legend Of Ten Rings. Also, about the time, he dressed up a Spider-Man for birthdays. Well, it’s been one kind of journey to look at.
One of the first segments of the night was Karaoke Recap hosted by Chloe Fineman and Kenan Thompson. The cast picked up different kinds of Karaoke singers. It went from Bowen Yang as the ‘guy who did great until high notes came’ to Peter Davidson as ‘Neal, the quiet guy in Hoodie.’ Simu played the finance guy who wanted to get laid, and Cecily Strong closed the segment as the girl who claims her friends signed up for her. But Strong went on to put on quite a performance.

The second segment saw Simu Liu introducing America to one of the innovative weapons in the form of Dog-head Man. Kenan later hosted Republican or Not as it saw Simu Liu competing with Edo Nwodim. All they had to do was hear from people and guess they were Republican or Not. Davidson then took the cue to bring the music video for ‘Walking in Staten.’ Post that, Sawteetie took the stage to perform “Tap In”/”Best Friend.”
Next up was The Weekend Update with Colin Jost and Michael Che. They talked about Joe Bidden finding out about House passing a $2 trillion Safety Net Bill to Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar posting an Anime Meme. Guests joining The Weekend Update included Grogu from the Disney+ series The Mandalorian and Mother Earth herself.
One of the final segments was Thanksgiving Baking Championship. Simu messed up his cakes, who later came alive attacking Heidi Gardner. Then, we had Bowen Yang and Simu Liu congratulate each other for their success. For the very first time, it was the first Asian male host and Asian male cast member together. Saweetie joined in next for the performance of “Icy Chain,” which you can check out below. The last segment to close the night saw a group smoking, calling, and messing up with Ego as a 911 attendant. The episode closed in the memory of Peter Akyroyd.
