Sasaki to Miyano is a trending BL anime, the manga of which is pretty famous, and it features Miyano, who’s a young boy in high school. He enjoys reading BL and fanboying about it with his senior, Sasaki. They warm up to each other, and unknowingly, they even develop feelings for each other. They talk about BL tropes which sometimes seem so unrealistic, yet sometimes they’re so ‘moe’ that it seems as if they are living in a BL world themselves. After the release of Sasaki To Miyano Episode 5, fans are anticipating the release of Episode 6.
Sasaki tries to restrain his feelings, but unable to do so, he confesses to Miyano on the train back home, when Miyano was supposedly sleeping. Miyano doesn’t tell Sasaki that he had heard the confession and tries to reassure himself that it might have been a misunderstanding. However, he enjoys spending time with Sasaki and thinks of him as a cool senpai. Sasaki’s direct confession in the 5th episode shakes him, especially because Miyano is in denial and also feels a little insecure because everyone calls his face feminine.

Sasaki to Miyano Episode 5 Recap
Episode 5 “One After Another,” was released on 7th February at midnight (UTC +8 – Japan, Taiwan time). The episode starts off really lively with Miyano participating in a 1400m race in the School’s Sports Festival. After running, he’s quite tired, so his friend goes to buy some juice for him. Meanwhile, he suddenly meets Sasaki, and it reminds him of the confession on the train. Both of them take a break and sit down under the cool shade of the tree.
Sasaki shares how he really likes the trope where the Uke (signifying bottom in a relationship according to hetero normative terms) kisses the sick Seme (signifying a top according to hetero normative terms) through a mask. Even though Uke and Seme might be used frequently in BL terms, it might be a bit offensive to a real couple since a Uke is always supposed to have big eyes with a pretty feminine face and act passively. Whereas the Seme is supposed to be aggressive and has a tall build. It is too stereotypical to be real. Miyano shares his views and says that he enjoys the trope where the Uke isn’t able to cook the porridge correctly when the Seme is sick, and it’s too “moe”.

Does Sasaki Confess Wrongly By Saying He Likes Miyano Just For His Face?
Sasaki to Miyano breaks through all these stereotypes because when Sasaki confesses to Miyano, Miyano gets flustered and can’t answer him clearly. Then he asks Sasaki what he likes about Miyano. Sasaki looks at Miyano’s face and says that he likes his face without thinking. Before he can correct himself, Miyano’s friend arrives and takes him away. During the rest of the day, Miyano continues to feel too self-conscious, especially because everyone used to call Miyano feminine because of his facial structure.
The next day, Miyano wears a mask to school because he feels embarrassed about his looks. Now, this is where the anime breaks the stereotypes. Miyano genuinely wants to be more manly. That’s why he had previously grown his bangs as well. He wanted to grow at least 10 cm more before he thought about considering Sasaki’s confession. In real life, people feel insecure about their looks, especially if a person who recognizes himself as a guy is called feminine.
Now, Sasaki finds Miyano sleeping in the Discipline Committee room. He looks at Miyano’s mask and struggles to restrain himself from kissing him. He lightly touches Miyano’s mask and quickly withdraws his hand when Hirano enters. Hearing the door slide, Miyano wakes up and feels flustered around Sasaki. He leaves, and Hirano recognizes that something is wrong. Sasaki tells him everything, and Hirano suggests he talk to Miyano as early as possible, as what Sasaki said can easily lead someone to misunderstandings.
Sasaki calls Miyano with Hirano’s phone and tells him that it’s just not Miyano’s face, but he really likes all of him. Sasaki blushes and quickly hangs up, while Hirano gets angry on Miyano’s behalf because this definitely solves the misunderstanding, but it also created more romantic tension between them. In the end, Miyano blushes hard through the mask, hearing Sasaki’s confession for the third time, and the episode ends.
