Saira Banu has been one of the most prominent actresses in the Indian film industry. Originally hailing from Mussoorie, at 16, she moved to Mumbai to work in films. She was even the highest-paid actress of Bollywood straight for six years. Being one of the most successful artists in the country, she was married to Dilip Kumar. Saira conceived, but she developed very high blood pressure in her eighth month of pregnancy. The doctors could not save the baby, as it was strangulated by the umbilical cord. They called it god’s will and never tried again.
