Another wild and horrific episode of Riverdale has arrived and has given the fans a lot of hype to watch Riverdale Season 6 Episode 3. The episode took us deeper into the horror genre of the show when a ghost started haunting the town. Meanwhile, Reggie was going through a mid-life crisis, and things seemed to be affecting his and Veronica’s relationship. On the other hand, we saw Tabitha getting affected by a spirit in her apartment. Whereas one of the characters sacrificed their lives and turned into a ghost to save someone they loved. But who was this ghost exactly that was haunting the town? Another major question is, what was it after?
The series has been quite popular since it first came out on 26th January 2017. Although it seemed like a popular choice for a younger audience, it didn’t stop the other viewers of different age groups to get hooked on this show. It had an engaging storyline and good character development as the show progressed. However, another major reason behind the success of this show was the fact it took inspiration from the “Archie” comics.
The well-known comic book writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has developed the show. Moreover, he is also the executive producer of the show. Whereas the other executive producers include Sarah Schechter, Greg Berlanti, Michael Grassi, and Jon Goldwater. The show has kicked off the sixth season with a 5 part crossover event, and the fans are now awaiting the release of Riverdale Season 6 Episode 3. However, let us first check out what happened in the previous episode, which was the second part of the crossover event.
Episode 2 of Riverdale Season 6 came out on 23rd November 2021. Moreover, the episode was titled “Chapter Ninety-Seven: Ghost Stories”. The episode began with a flashback from three months back when Toni accidentally killed Darla’s son Danny during a fight between the Serpents and the Ghoulies. Meanwhile, in the present time, she was still living with the guilt of taking away a son from her mother. On the other hand, we saw Tabitha leaving for work, asking Jughead to put up the paintings on the wall.
Whereas Reggie was going through a tough time as his father was sick. But soon, he got a reason to smile a little when a customer came in to sell his car that looked exactly like Reggie’s old car, ‘Bella’. Instead of putting it up on sale, he bought it himself. At Jughead’s house, Tabitha decided to put up the painting herself, seeing that Jughead didn’t do it. But while doing so, she put a hole in the wall, and they both found a secret room behind it. She later learned that the house belonged to a couple where the girl snapped one day and killed the boy and then hanged herself to death.
On the other hand, we see a ghost come out of the sweetwater river and try to kill Cheryl’s niece Juniper in the shower. But Cheryl arrives there on time and saves her but sees bruises on her shoulder. So she tells Betty to tell Alice to take care of the twins for a few days. Later on, another girl named Sandra dies, and Betty informs Toni that Sandra’s mother, Lucinda Villa, might have killed her. But Toni disagrees as she knows Lucinda would never hurt her daughter, so Toni talks to her. Lucinda mentions a spirit named La Llorona who killed her daughter as she prays upon the children.
Toni tells Betty about the spirit, but she does not believe it and cannot mention a spirit as the murderer in the case as well. On the other hand, we see Tabitha getting nightmares about smashing Jughead with a hammer. After that, she was even feeling a lot of anger and frustration with Jughead. This seemed to affect her at work too as she was not in her right mind. So she discussed ghosts with her grandpa. He told her that the dinner was once haunted, but it stopped after the riots happened in the 1980s.
Whereas Veronica and Reggie seemed to be having conflicts about Reggie’s obsession with his car. Later on, Veronica found a photo in Reggie’s car and thought he was having an affair. Although, she found out that the woman in the photo was an old teacher who was suspended for having relationships with several students. Toni told Betty about the legend of La Llorona and that those spirits are mothers killing children. But Betty didn’t believe it, and later she suffered the consequence. The spirit of La Llorona entered her room and killed her unborn child. This made her realize that the spirit is real.
Meanwhile, at the school the next day, Toni got scared after seeing water droplets falling from the roof out of nowhere. She rushed out of the class and saw La Llorona in the corridor who was about to kill another student. But Toni pressed the fire alarm that got all the students and teachers to come out of the class together. This stopped La Llorona to kill any more children at the school. Whereas at the dinner, Betty told Tabitha that Jughead used to let her read his raw story before it was officially complete. This made Tabitha more furious since Jughead did not let her read the raw story earlier.
Tabitha Scares The Ghost Away: Toni’s Sacrifice For Her Son
Things get strange when Toni gets a visit from a social worker who got a tip from someone that Toni was not able to take care of her son, Baby Anthony. She tried to ask about the person who tipped the social worker, but soon she heard Baby Anthony’s cry. La Llorona was just about to kill the Baby, but Toni and the social worker arrived there on time. Whereas, at the garage, Veronica confronted Reggie after destroying his car. She thought that he was continuing the toxicity of his relationship with his teacher through the car.
However, Reggie told her that he never had a relationship with that teacher, but she supported him at the time when he had problems in his life. He also told her that his father died 20 minutes ago, which made Veronica regret what she did. She apologized to him and later on, even gifted him another similar car. Meanwhile, Toni sent Baby Anthony in the protection of the Serpents until she, Betty, and Cheryl summoned La Llorona’s spirit to find out her story and who summoned her.
On the other hand, Tabitha lashed out at Jughead for not taking his work seriously, spending her money on buying alcohol to put boats inside them, and breaking the typewriter as well. However, she controlled her anger, and this scared the ghost away from the apartment forever. After knowing that Darla had summoned La Llorona to kill Baby Anthony as revenge against Toni, they went after the spirit to stop her from killing. In the end, in order to stop the spirit and set her free, Toni took her place as the spirit and sacrificed her life for Baby Anthony to live. Whereas she asked Betty to take care of Baby Anthony and raise him up.
