Kimetsu No Yaiba, popularly known as Demon Slayer is a world-popular anime. It is adapted from the manga of the same name written by Koyoharu Gotouge. The manga was first published on February 15, 2016, and ran till May 18, 2020. The manga became very popular throughout the world soon after its release. A TV serial adaptation was made by Ufotable studio. The anime soon broke records with every passing week. The first episode of the anime debuted on October 16, 2020. Demona Slayer follows the story of Tanjiro Kamado who sets out to turn his sister back into human form after she’s turned into a demon.
The 2nd season of Demon Slayer ended on February 13, 2022. Fans since then have been waiting for the new season announcement. The 3rd season was announced soon after. If you just like other fans are wondering how many arcs are remaining in Demon Slayer to witness the ultimate fight between Muzan and Tanjiro, you’re at the right place! I will take through all the arcs which are left in the anime.
Warning! Spoilers ahead.
Swordsmith Village Arc
This is the next arc slated in the series. The 3rd season will feature this arc. Let’s take a look into what all will happen in this arc. After Daki and Gyutaro’s defeat in the 2nd season, Muzan calls for an Upper Moon meeting (fans still argue this should’ve been in the 2nd season). Here we see all the upper moons. Gyokko (Upper Moon 5) reveals that he has information that will help Muzan get closer to his goals. Muzan orders Gyokko and Hantengu (Upper Moon 4) to investigate.
The arc starts with Tanjiro arriving at the swordsmith village (where nichirin swords are made). There Tanjiro meets Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Hashira. He then meets fellow demon slayer Genya and the Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito. During the night a swordsmith sees a pot and goes near it. Gyokko comes out of it and Hantengu also appears. They both start destroying the village. Tanjiro, Nezuko, Genya, and Kanroji start their battle against Hantengu. On the other hand, Muichiro comes face to face with Gyokko. The demon slayer keeps beheading Hantengu but he regenerates his head along with a new body.
A fierce battle ensues between the demon slayers and the upper moons. We see Hantengu’s special abilities and Gyokko’s too. We also come to know about Muichiro’s past and how he became a hashira. And we witness a shocking end to this arc which affects the whole demon slayer corps and the demons alike. I won’t go much into the details to keep up the hype.

Hashira Training Arc
This arc is very short and does not feature any important fights. We get to see Inosuke and Zenitsu who were absent from the previous arc. Hashira training focuses on increasing the capability of the demon slayers. All the hashiras prepare several pieces of training for the demon slayers which they have to perform. The highlight of this arc is Giyu Tomioka. We see him having a friendly duel with Sanemi Shinazugawa. Giyu’s past is also revealed and also if you are clever enough you’ll understand the meaning of the haori which the Water hashira wears.
We can expect this arc to be covered in the swordsmith village arc as waiting a year just for this wouldn’t seem right. Although the ending of this arc is awesome. In the end, we see Ubuyashiki (Oyakata Sama) bed-ridden and suddenly Muzan arrives in front of him.
Infinity Castle Arc
The arc starts with Muzan and Ubuyashiki talking about their past and differences. There we learn Muzan and Ubuyashiki are related. All the hashira sensed the danger and run towards the mansion. Ubuyashiki blows himself up along with Muzan. Muzan is held and Tamayo attacks him. Soon Gyomei Himejima (Stone hashira) also attacks Muzan but he regenerates quickly. Suddenly Muzan summons his Infinity Castle and all the demon slayers get spread throughout it. The first battle we witness is between our beloved Insect hashira, Shinobu Kocho, and upper moon 2 Douma.
Shinobu attacks Douma but in vain. Then Shinobu realizes the only way to kill Douma is to sacrifice herself. She does so, Douma absorbs her. Kanao Tsuyuri, Shinobu’s successor comes and sees the horrific sight of her sensei dying. Enraged she attacks Douma but he is easily able to dodge all her attacks. When Douma corners Kanao, Inosuke makes a superb entry and comes to her rescue.
They both fight Douma with all their might. When Inosuke’s boar head mask gets removed, a shocking truth comes to light. We get to know that Inosuke’s mother once served Douma. While trying to run away from him she gets captured but leaves Inosuke out in the wild to save him. Inosuke is devastated. He finds it hard to accept the truth. Just when Douma is about to leave he starts melting. It is revealed that Shinobu consumed a little bit of poison every day to kill off a demon. Inosuke and Kanao somehow finally manage to behead Douma thus killing him.
Akaza vs Tanjiro and Giyu
On the other hand, Tanjiro and Giyu come across Akaza. Akaza insults Rengoku making Tanjiro furious. Tanjiro attacks Akaza, and the upper moon 3 agrees that Rengoku was right and Tanjiro is truly not weak. Akaza says he will show respect to Tanjiro. Thus begins an epic fight between the 2 demon slayers and the Upper moon 3. Akaza easily overpowers both of them. Akaza is impressed by Tanjiro’s progress as he can fight the demon without Giyu’s assistance. Soon Tanjiro is able to deduce Akaza’s ability and how it works. He manages to behead Akaza but the demon is still able to fight. Tanjiro is knocked out by Akaza’s attack.
Soon Akaza remembers his past (which is really sad) and tries to fight it off. We see his past life and get to know his real name. In the end, Akaza prepares one last technique to finish it off. But soon he’s reminded of something special and attacks himself using the technique. He praises Tanjiro and states that he wants to go to hell as a man before disintegrating.
Kaigaku vs Zenitsu
Zenitsu calls out Kaigaku (Zenitsu’s senior) as he recognizes the demon’s presence. We see Kaigaku as the upper moon 6. The demon demands some respect from his junior but Zenitsu says he doesn’t deserve any respect now that he’s turned into a demon. Zenitsu shouts over how his gramps died a painful death due to Kaigaku becoming a demon. He then says that he doesn’t care how strong Kaigaku is. He can use only the first breath of lightning while Kaigaku can use all but the first breath.
Their battle begins, although it is a short one but worth it. Zenitsu slashes Kaigaku’s neck. Kaigaku furiously attacks Zenitsu and overpowers him. Zenitsu remembers his pieces of training with his senior. Suddenly Zenitsu uses his self-developed 6th form of thunder breathing: Rumble and Flash. Zenitsu beheads Kaigaku who couldn’t perceive anything as it all happens too fast. While falling Zenitsu says he made this form by himself to use it while fighting alongside Kaigaku.

Muichiro, Genya, Sanemi, Gyomei vs Kokushibo
Kokushibo (Upper Moon 1) comes in front of Muichiro. Kokushibo senses a familiarity in Tokito. Later on, it is revealed that the Mist hashira is his descendant. We learn that Kokushibo is a Moon breath user. The Upper moon easily corners Tokito and severs his left hand. Genya from behind tries to attack the demon but gets both his hands cut down. Just when Genya is about to be killed, his brother, Sanemi arrives. Seeing Genya and his brother arguing, Kokushibo remembers his young brother.
An extreme fight begins between the wind hashira and the upper moon. Kokushibo overwhelms Sanemi. Just then, the strongest demon slayer, Stone hashira Gyomei Himejima arrives. Kokushbio concludes that Gyomei is the strongest hashira he has faced in over 3 centuries.
Both Sanemi and Gyomei awaken their demon slayer mark in the midst of the battle. The three hashiras manage to mobilise Kokushibo. They continuously attack the demon. During this, Kokushibo remembers his past and his younger brother. The demon slayers barely manage to kill off Kokushibo. After his death, we come to know of the legendary Yoriichi Tsugikuni. The fight finally ends with Genya and Tokito dying. I tell you this part is very sad, keep a tissue with yourself while watching it.
Sunrise Countdown Arc
The final arc of the manga brings everyone face to face with Kibutsuji Muzan. The first ones to encounter Muzan are Tanjiro and Giyu. Muzan injures Tanjiro’s right eye. Kanraoji and Iguro Obanai (serpent hashira) arrive to help. Yushiro using his ability can bring the demon slayers and Muzan to the earth’s surface. A crow informs them that an hour is left for dawn to break. Tanjiro slowly starts dying due to the wound Muzan gave him.
With the hashiras fighting Muzan, Tanjiro sees the memory of his ancestor. Inosuke, Zenitsu, and Kanao also join the battle. Muzan knocks everyone out. Tanjiro appears out of nowhere and calls out on Muzan to settle their score. Tanjiro starts attacking the Demon king using the Sun breathing. This epic fight ends with Muzan’s defeat ultimately. But before dying Muzan converts Tanjiro into a demon. Somehow Giyu, Nezuko, Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Kanao manage to bring Tanjiro back to his human form again.
The battle ends with all the hashira dying except Giyu and Sanemi. Tanjiro and his friends go back to Urokodaki and then his home. Later we see a modern world and all the Demon Slayers including the hshiras in a new life.
There is a long way to go for all these arcs to be animated. But when they do get animated, it is sure to break the internet.
