After delivering a cool and electrifying presence in his last projects, South Korean actor Lee Joon is making a comeback soon with the historical K-drama, ‘Red Single Heart’. While many of us still remember him as the clumsy and hilarious idol in the reality show, Running Man, he is now one of the most talented Korean actors who has mesmerized everyone with his powerful presence! The show was officially announced almost a year ago when Lee Joon was cast as the protagonist along with Jang Hyuk, who have worked together in the K-drama, ‘IRIS 2’ back in 2013.

The date of the premiere of the historical political drama, ‘Red Single Heart,’ has been announced and as per the rumors, it has been scheduled to release in the first half of the year. The first episode of the show will be released on April 18, 2022, at 6:00 pm KST. It consists of 16 episodes in all, two per week, with a screen time of 80 minutes for each episode. The domestic viewers are independent to watch the series on television by tuning in to the KBS2 network at the time stated above, every Monday and Tuesday, or can watch the episodes online on the official website of the channel just like the international viewers.

The show casts Lee Joon as the fictional King of Joseon, Lee Tae who dreams of becoming a powerful ruler, actress Kang Han Na as Yoo Jeong, his love interest, and Jang Hyuk as Park Gye-won. While Lee Joon has been on a roll recently, with some of the most intense K-drama series like Bulgasal and Silent Sea, Jang Hyuk’s casting in another dark saeguk K-drama has made the spectators more excited! On the other hand, Han Na was last seen in the female-centric K-drama, ‘Bite Sisters’ in 2021 in a lead role.

Red Single Heart Plotline

The story follows the story of Lee Tae who plays a leading role in overthrowing the tyrant, King Sunjong in a rebellion and becomes the crown prince of Joseon. With the help of Park Gye Won, Lee Tae’s father deposes the former king and ascends to the throne of Joseon, marking the beginning of a new dynasty. When Lee Tae successes on the throne, he determines to build an absolute monarch unlike his father, and no matter which path he has to choose for achieving his goal, he is prepared for it.

However, Park Gye Won, the man who had helped him bring down the past ruler, now serving as the First Vice-Premier, is against this idea. He is the most powerful figure of the kingdom and almost all the real powers are vested in his hands. He believes in making the king a wise and benevolent one to ensure the building of strong foundations for Joseon. Meanwhile, Lee Tae falls in love with the daughter of a noble family, Yoo Jung who is a free-spirited woman. Lee Tae woos her and makes her his crown princess. However, the battle for power in the royal court ends up tangling her entire family.
