Nevertheless, Episode 5: Recap
Nevertheless, Episode 5 was called ‘I Know Nothing Will Change, Nevertheless.’ This episode was certainly very different from the previous episodes in the series. Here, not everything is happy in paradise between Jae Eon and Nabi. Moreover, the plot also shifts to the other characters, which is a relief. That’s because the previous episodes left quite an ambiguity regarding several characters, beginning to bother the audience. So, let’s find out what happened in Nevertheless, Episode 5.
Beginning where Episode 4 left off, Episode 5 starts with a stranger getting out of a car and hitting Jae Eon. Nabi, too, get’s hurt during the brawl between the two. What saves the day is Jiwan and Sol overhearing Nabi’s cries for help. They were talking about their friendship standing on the staircase leading to the terrace. Upon hearing Nabi’s screams, they run down to Jae Eon’s workshop and call the cops.
Later in the police station, it turns out that Jae Eon was actually seeing the stranger’s sister. The problem here was the fact that she was already engaged to another man. The stranger warns Nabi in good faith that she must leave Jae Eon in order to not get hurt. Nabi is appalled by everything that has happened. She tells Jae Eon that she doesn’t want to see him anymore. Jae Eon tries to stop her, but Nabi yanks her hand from his hold and walks away. Back at home, she starts throwing away the dress Jae Eon bought her and the shirt he lent.
Bitna and Kyu Hyun’s Friendship
In the meanwhile, Kyu Hyun and Bitna’s relationship finally reach some stability in Nevertheless, Episode 5. Throughout the episode, Kyu Hyun is seen having distanced himself from the entire group of friends. He not only seems aloof but downright heartbroken. Se Young had set Kyu Hyun up for a date with her friend. However, she tells Bitna that the girl rejected him, which is probably the cause behind his ordeal.
This infuriates Bitna. In fact, when she gets drunk one night after class, Sehun calls Kyu Hyun to pick her up. She bursts out at him. Kyu Hyun is taken aback because it turns out that he was actually sad because of Bitna and not his date. In fact, the two of them kiss and make-up. Later, Kyu Hyun carries her on his back and takes her home. Interestingly, the two of them also decide to start dating. However, Bitna is drunk, so we hope she doesn’t ‘regret’ this decision too.
Jiwan and Sol’s Friendship
Initially, after the brawl between Jae Eon and the stranger, Jiwan and Sol make up in a park. Jiwan tells Sol that this is how their relationship has always been. They just stop discussing the matter altogether. However, Sol tells Jiwan that it’s different this time and perhaps they should talk about it. However, they eventually end up just dismissing it.
Later, during their class, the professor comments on Sol’s work and asks her if she is slacking because she decided not to go abroad for an exchange semester. Jiwan is taken aback because Sol hid this from her too. She runs outside the classroom and begins rummaging through her locker. Sol follows her but is stopped by Sehun for a conversation. Again, this episode also hints towards a possible romance between Sol and Jiwan, but we still know nothing for sure.
Nabi and Jae Eon: Are They ‘Just Friends’?
Coming back to Nabi and Jae Eon, things certainly get awkward between the two in this episode. Not for once do we see the two of them getting intimate with each other. In fact, they don’t even seem to be able to look at each other eye-to-eye. Nabi has to present her exhibition ideas and choose an assistant. After talking about her ideas, when asked who would like to volunteer, Jae Eon raises his hand. Nabi accepts him as an assistant. Interestingly, another one of her juniors who seems to like her raises his hand. Nabi accepts him too.
Later, Nabi and Jae Eon go to the workshop under his living space to start working with metal. Jae Eon teaches her by guiding her hands himself. Nabi does not shy away from their close proximity. But then again, neither does she read too much to it. The two have a good time with each other. However, it turns out as though Seol-a was waiting for Jae Eon somewhere. She calls him incessantly, but he never picks up. Later Seol-a catches Nabi leaving the workshop.
Who Really is Seol-a?
Also, did we tell you that Jae Eon changed his cell phone number? It is still unclear as to why he does it. He gives Nabi the new number when she’s leaving the workshop. It can be speculated that he wants to start afresh now that Nabi has seen him at his lowest. Maybe Jae Eon really wants to become a better human. But, the question remains – does he want to be better for Nabi, or is there someone else?
You might wonder why this is even a question, given everything that has happened between the two of them. Well, right before the episode is about to end, we see Seol-a on the University campus, perhaps waiting for Jae Eon. Nabi goes to a soda dispenser when Seol-a stops her to ask about Jae Eon. Nabi is slightly taken aback and asks her about their relationship. Seol-a tells Nabi that she and Jae Eon used to date at some point, but then they broke up. However, Nabi is bewildered to hear that they are dating again. She also sees Seol-a’s butterfly engraved lighter. Nabi makes a hasty decision here, perhaps something that could change her relationship with Jae Eon forever.
Nabi had overheard Seol-a speaking on her phone about cutting her hair. So, just before leaving her confused, Nabi tells her that she shouldn’t shorten her hair because Jae Eon likes doing it with the girl’s hair tied up. Well, clearly, this requires no further breakdown. Stay tuned to this page for further updates on Nevertheless, Episode 6.
