John Lurie is a creation of art toward himself! Painting With John is an American TV series that narrates the story of John Lurie. Lurie is the only one starring in the show. John is the creator, composer, writer, whatever you like! The cinematography and editing have got executed by Erick Mockus, as he helps John in his artwork. John sees the world differently. Through his series, he portrays his thoughts with his paintbrush.
Painting With John has got something surreal and existential about it. John is an artist from all angles. He is a musician, a painter, and also an actor. When he looks at the word art, he will read you a whole book to define that single word. Lurie’s authenticity, raw & tremendous talent will frighten you! No wonder the show has the lowest criticism in America. When you talk about a review from any American show, you will expect a negative comment. But John’s unscripted series hardly has got one. He is a person who is not like others. John shows his actual self and is not afraid to represent it in front of the world. His mindset is free of any blockages, which gave him the idea to create the show.
John said in the trailer that he does not care what people will think about the show. It is he who wants to make a show like this. And if he gets affected, then he is not true to himself. Produced by Matt Dwyer, the show premiered on January 22, 2021. The first season consisted of six episodes, with every episode having a runtime of 25 mins. Lurie admits that he is not an Anti-Bob Ross person. John respects him a lot as an artist and a legend. It is just that he likes to make fun of him and troll him in silly ways. Lurie said that Bob’s trees don’t look happy. Which means it does not have life in it! He tells the viewers how he wrote a poem while watching the sunset.
John Lurie suffered from vertigo disease and had cancer. He talks about all the silly things he did when he was going through a life-threatening phase. That is the second episode, “The Explosion Story.” He reveals his home on the Caribbean Island. John is very affectionate with Lounge Lizards. He loves to stare at them and make a sketch.
In his third episode, he discovers a tree branch that looks like an elephant trunk! He cuts the branch and blows it like a trumpet. Lurie talks about his brother Evan Lurieand how they used to enjoy their childhood like this. John explains how exciting our life can be if we analyze them in-depth.
The fourth episode of John Lurie talks about Fame and why it is not good. He meets some famous people and does some comedic pranks to prove his point. The other two episodes are just the same but portrayed with his brush differently. John paints all the scenarios with his watercolors, showing how the thoughts can get portrayed with a piece of a stick!
