Hey guys. Zoro is one of the strongest members of the Straw Hats. Zoro was the first person to join the crew. Luffy recruited Zoro back at Shells Town. Zoro dreams of becoming the strongest Swordsman in the world. He has carried this dream ever since he was a child. We barely know anything about Zoro’s origins. Currently, as we know that One Piece is at the Whole Cake Island arc.

This arc’s main focus was Vinsmoke Sanji. Sanji had remained one of the more mysterious Straw Hats before Whole Cake Island. Sanji’s backstory was pretty emotional as we came to know about the various atrocities that took place in his day to day life. We have detailed information about almost every Straw Hat. However, Zoro’s backstory still seems to elude us. We have seen the backstories of several enemies and allies of the Straw Hats. It is only fair to assume that Zoro’s backstory will be revealed the Wano Arc.

As I already said that Zoro is the longest serving member among the Straw Hats. There a lot of questions regarding Zoro’s past which come to mind. Why was he at that sword training dojo, did his parents send him there or is he an orphan who found it himself? Who are his parents? Is he even from that island? We only have a limited amount of information about him and Kuina. Also, there are several panels about his training during his fight with Mr. 1. Nami, Chopper, Usopp, Robin, Franky, Brooke and now Sanji have all been given complex pasts, we know what makes them tick and why they are who they are.

Yes, Zoro wants to become the greatest swordsman to honor Kuina, but why was he drawn to swords in the first place? Who taught him Santoryuu? I think we need a firmer grasp on who Zoro is. Personally, I think this was Oda’s plan all along, to wait until now to really delve into Zoro and Sanji, and I think Wano will be heavily influenced by Zoro like Whole Cake Island was by Sanji.

A food island, and an island all about using swords. Not to mention one of Zoro’s swords is that island’s national treasure as it was confirmed by Kin’emon when he saw the Shusui. There has also been heavy speculation that Kuina also belonged to Wano originally. So, that just makes Zoro’s backstory being revealed at Wano statement even stronger.
That’s it from me.
