One Piece is a popular shonen anime that has been airing for over 20 years now. From a broad view, The story is based on the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, a Pirate who has set out to become the Pirate King by finding the treasure of One piece. However, the actual story isn’t as simple as that. The main plot is a perfect blend of dark, mysterious, adventurous, and funny factors.
Additionally, it’s one of the only few anime with the best Worldbuilding system and the best character development. Currently, There are 14 One Piece movies, (with the new movie coming out in 2022) as well as over 20 OVAs.
The only reason it’s somewhat not gaining more popularity is due to its length. People who are willing to start the anime are reluctant because it has over 1000 episodes. Plus it gets a bit confusing with all the Movies and OVAs. Some of which are canon to the manga. Thus today we’ll take a look at the complete guide of One piece.

6) Summit War Saga
The Summit War saga is also known as Paramount War Saga and Whitebeard War Saga. This marked the last saga of the first half of One piece TV series. Once the Straw Hat Pirates reach Sabaody island they come across several other pirates. All the pirates that held more than 300,000,000 berries as a bounty were categorized as the Worst Generation. Here we learn about the tragic truth of the world, where they reveal a drastic difference between the Celestial Dragons and the common citizens. Celestial Dragons have the power to do anything to anyone they want.
After bearing their inhumanity for a long time, Luffy snaps and punches one of the Celestial Dragons. This resulted in a buster call. Admiral Kizaru along with the Warlord Kuma arrive at the island. Later on, all the straw hats are separated by Kuma and were sent to different places where they could train themselves to get stronger. Meanwhile, to become a Warlord, Blackbeard offered Ace to the World Government. After getting their hands on him, the Government announced that they will hold a public execution of Ace.
This resulted in a huge war between the World Government and Whitebeard pirates. During this time Luffy was still in Amazon Lilly, trying to find a way out. Boa Hancock, The empress fell in love with Luffy and decided to him in every way possible. As soon as Luffy received the news about Ace, He became restless since he needed to rescue Ace at all costs. Since it was a war, to strengthen their side, The World government summoned all the Warlords. This included Boa Hancock. With her help, Luffy managed to sneak inside the Impel down. It’s a prison meant for highly dangerous criminals, this is where Ace was kept for the time being.
Despite all the efforts made by Luffy, he couldn’t rescue Ace from the Impel Down prison. But all hope wasn’t gone yet. With the help of the temporary alliance of Ivan, Crocodile, and Bon chan, He managed to escape the Prison and made it in time to the Warzone, A lot goes on during this saga which can hardly be covered in this synopsis. However, Towards the end of the war, Luffy sends a message through the press that’d only be understood by the Straw Hats, i.e.3D2Y. This Saga is made of five-story arcs in total.

This saga is also called the Pirate Alliance Saga. After The Straw Hat Pirates reach the New world they find themselves on an Island called Punk Hazard. Due to a battle between Aokiji and Akainu that lasted for 10 days, the land here was divided into two extremes. One side was extremely cold and One side was extremely Hot. This Island used to be the Laboratory of Dr. Vegapunk. But now it’s the base for the production of SMILE, an artificial devil fruit made by Caesar. These were directly supplied to Doflamingo who eventually distributed them in the black market. The majority of those went to Kaido.
After defeating Caesar and Befriending Kin’emon, the straw hat pirates ally with Trafalgar law to defeat the emperor, Kaido. After Punk Hazard they visit Dressrosa, ruled by Donquixote Doflamingo. This is where they find Kanjuro, Kin’emon’s ally, and defeat Doflamingo.
After reaching Dressrosa, Luffy discovers that Doflamingo was holding a battle tournament whose winner would get the devil fruit, Mera Mera no mi. The devil fruit was previously used by Portgas D. Ace. Luffy wanted one of his crew members to get this devil fruit since he couldn’t bear to watch anyone else with those powers. At the end of the saga Straw Hat, pirates form a Grand fleet. And disperse till they need any help. After the battles in Dressrosa, Luffy’s Bounty increased to 500,000,000 berries. By the end of this saga, Luffy had already become a huge enemy to Kaido, who was the one getting affected by the destruction of the SMILE factory.

9) Four Emperors Saga
This is the ongoing saga that started with half of the straw hats entering Zou island and the other half going to Totto land to rescue Sanji. Charlotte LinLin (Big mom) invited Sanji to her tea party and eventually marry one of her daughters with the aim to form an alliance with Germa 66, i.e., Sanji’s family. However, her true intentions were to invite them to her tea party and kill them all. An Anime version of the Red wedding! The Straw Hats come in time to rescue Sanji and return to Wano Kuni where they all are reunited.
Wano Kuni is known as the land of Samurais, which was now capitalized by Orochi and Kaido. The land was slowly becoming a base for industries that made the lands uninhabitable. The river water was almost poisoned and the air was filled with Industrial fumes. To make matters worse, Kaido and Orochi experimented with the citizens. They were forcefully fed the artificial devil fruits called SMILE. The successful pieces would give the user a new power. However, the unsuccessful Devil fruit would result in a major side effect that’d make the victims laugh even when they wish to cry. Which is the cruel reason behind its name being SMILE.
In order to defeat Kaido, An Alliance of Ninja-Mink-Samurai-Pirate is formed. However, in the Whole Cake Island arc, the straw hat pirates fought against Big Mom Leading her to Wano Kuni in search of Luffy. She lands on Wano Kuni and ends up forming an Alliance with Kaido. This starts an event of battles and the rise of Akazaya nine that were destined to fight against Orochi and Kaido when the time comes.
Meanwhile, all the Royalties from around the Globe gathered around for Levely and one of the decisions they made was to demolish the Warlord system. A three-fold war has already started in this Saga. The first war has been declared by Akazaya against Kaido. The Second war broke down between the World government and Warlords. Soon, The Third War will start between the Revolutionary army and Celestial Dragons.
