Out of several original anime, one that made quite a prominent impression in 2021 was Odd Taxi, a mystery surrounding a taxi driver. The general idea of anime has been appreciated widely by fans all over the world. It was a surprisingly brilliant production from OLM and P.I.C.S that left fans asking for more. Lucky enough, the series is returning, but this time with a movie. The Odd Taxi movie release date got announced, too, so fans can start hyping up for the same. After the huge success of season 1, we await more plot revelations in the upcoming movie. The anime is set in a world of anthropomorphic characters. The first season of the anime came out in April 2021. It was directed by Baku Kinoshita alongside Kazuya Kinomoto, who compiled the anime’s scripts. Its animation production was done by OLM and P.I C.S studios. The anime was originally broadcast locally on TV Tokyo, AT-X. Crunchyroll licensed the series for international viewers. Prior to its premiere, an anime-inspired manga was launched by Shogakukan and serialized by Superior Dalpana. The manga was written by Kazuya Kinomoto and illustrated by Takeichi Abaraya. Currently ongoing, it has published two volumes at the time of writing.

Plot
41-year-old Odokawa is an anti-social taxi driver. However, he tries his best to strike up conversations with his passengers. His daily life is dry as he tries not to blend too much with others. When a high school girl from Nerima Ward disappears, Odokawa gets caught up in the entire situation. Doubts have begun rising, and Odokawa keeps getting caught up among all sorts of questions. People claim to have heard voices from his house, where he lives alone. Moreover, the Yakuza is involved too now. Things are falling apart, and the chaos is starting to rise.
But after a series of events and execution of a certain plan, things change for Odokawa. Things become more clear for our protagonist as he connects the dots by testifying everyone involved. A new angle to the case arises for Odokawa to see. Once again, the taxi driver journeys to scramble through the missing pieces and find the truth.
Odd Taxi: In The Woods Movie Release Date
Soon after the end of season 1, an Odd Taxi movie titled “Odd Taxi: In The Woods” was announced in December 2021. Initially, the movie was only announced to come out in 2022. As per the most recent announcement, the Odd Taxi: In The Woods movie will be released in Japanese theatres on 1 April 2022.

The movie will be released only in Japanese initially. Dubbed version of season 1 will come out in February 2022. Although there has been no specific announcement regarding it, we expect the movie’s English dubbed version to be released on Crunchyroll soon.

The movie released a trailer on 27 January 2022 featuring cut scenes from the upcoming movies. In the trailer, we can see Odokawa in an interrogation room.
Cast and Characters
The movie will bring back several casts from the first season. Natsuki Hanae will voice Hiroshi Odokawa, Riho Iida will voice Migo Shirakawa, Ryohei Kimura will voice Ayumu Goriki, Kappei Yamaguchi will voice Eiji Kakihana, Suzuki Mimori will voice Rui Nikaido, Moeka Koizumi will voice Shoho Ichimura, Manatsu Murakami will voice YukiMitsuya, Koei and Asei will voice the comedy duo Kenshiro and Koishiro Daimon, and Yusuke Nd Atsuhiro Tsuda will voice Shibagaki and Baba (respectively).
Staff
Baki Kinoshita is returning to direct the anime film as Kazuya Kinomoto writes the scripts of the anime. The movie’s music is composed by OMSB, PUNPEE, and VaVa. Once again, the movie will be produced by OLM and P.I.C.S studios and distributed to Japanese theatres by Asmik Ace in Japan and Crunchyroll in North America.
