Kodansha Evening magazine’s third issue had some news for Crusher Joe REBIRTH fans. Isuke Hari’s manga adaptation of Haruka Takachino’s science fiction novel series Crusher Joe, is going to take a break. The manga will go a hiatus and it will resume in the spring with a new series. It will be the “Final Hidden Treasure of the Milky Way” arc.
The magazine has also revealed the second book volume will be published by Kodansha in March. The first compiled book was published on September 21. The Crusher Joe REBIRTH was launched in Evening magazine back in September 2017. Takachina and Fujihiko Hosono adapted the series into a manga in 1979. The Crusher Joe novels were turned in a film (1983) and a video project (1989). Both of the works were released in North America by AnimEigo.
Here is how the story is described—
The galaxy is a strange and dangerous place, and there are times when even the United Space Force can’t help. That’s where the Crushers come in – skilled troubleshooters who will deal with any problem, large or small, for a fee (large only!) And there is no better Crusher than Crusher Joe!
Discotek Media released the movie again in April 2017 and released the OVAs in September 2017.
Takachiho’s Dirty Pair novels also inspired numerous anime projects, although he last wrote a Dirty Pairnovel in 2007. Yoshikazu Yasuhiko (Gundam, The Venus Wars) illustrated both novel series and designed the Crusher Joe anime projects.
