New City Hunter Anime Film Reveals Title, New Trailer – otakuverse

City Hunter is getting a new anime film and it is going to be epic. The official website for Tsukasa Hojo’s City Hunter anime announced the new movie title. The movie is titled, Gekijōban City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes (City Hunter the Movie: Shinjuku Private Eyes). The website also revealed a new trailer and a new visual as well. Like the previous video, the new trailer has TM Network’s song “Get Wild”. It was the ending theme song for the first City Hunter television anime.

The website has also confirmed that this song will be the ending song for the movie. Here are the new cast members for the movie—

The returning cast of the film is as follows—
Akira Kamiya as Ryo Saeba
Kazue Ikura as Kaori Makimura
Harumi Ichiryūsai (Youko Asagami) as Saeko Nogami
Tesshō Genda as Umibozu
Mami Koyama as Miki

It has also been announced that Yoshimi Tokui will have a special role in the film but, there has been no information about his character. The film will open in Japan on February 8, 2019.

The movie will be directed by Kenji Kodama, who has worked on most of the City Hunter anime. He will return as the chief director. The script is done by Yoichi Kato (Aikatsu!, Yōkai Watch, Monster Strike the Animation). Kumiko Takahashi (Birdy the Mighty, Card Captor Sakura) is the character designer and Taku Iwasaki (Gurren Lagann, Gatchaman Crowds) is composing the music. The film is being animated by Sunrise.

The movie will be set in the present-day Shinjuku. The manga follows Ryo Saeba, who is a sniper and a private eye. He has unrivalled marksmanship and he is really obsessed with girls. He serves as a bodyguard and other duties for his clients.

Hojo’s 1985 manga has inspired four television anime series, one anime film, and several video and television specials. Hollywood star, Jackie Chan also starred in a 1993 Hong Kong live-action film that very loosely adapts the original manga.
