My Hero Academia is a great show. The anime is of the shonen category, and the trademarks of a shonen story are all over it. Whether it’s about an overly optimistic hero or mentors ready to believe and push the protagonist ahead. My Hero Academia has it all. It shows us a world of superheroes and quirks, and honestly, it does it in one of the best ways possible. Other shows such as One Punch Man also have a world full of superheroes, but My Hero Academia brings in the unique twist of Hero Schools and training, making it perfect for the shonen category.
Deku, the protagonist of the show, is a great character. Even after being born without superpowers or quirks, Deku does not give up being good. Even after almost giving up his dream, he does not shy away from trying to protect Bakugo from a literal monster. He is brave and truly worthy of One for All, the amazing quirk passed down to him by All Might himself. The quirk is probably the best one in the entire series. It acts as a vessel for all the quirks held by its past users. Moreover, it can be passed down to anyone effectively and without much effort.
However, One for All has its own downsides. If a hero already has a quirk, acquiring One for All will cut down their lifespan drastically. So it is best to pass it down to a quirkless person like Deku. In this article, we will talk about how Deku meets all the past users of One for All. So let’s jump right in.

Midoriya’s Path To Inheriting One for All
Izuku Midoriya
Quirks or superpowers dominate the world of My Hero Academia. For some reason, everyone in the world has one quirk or the other. There are superheroes and villains. Heroes are backed by a rating system where the strongest hero is named the number 1 hero. In this world full of quirks, Izuku Midoriya was born quirkless. He dreams of following in the footsteps of his idol All-Might, the number 1 hero. However, after finding out he has no quirk, Izuku loses spirit and succumbs to his fate for a long time.
Growing up, all he does is collect information about all the heroes like the fanboy he is. On a fateful day, he gets to cross paths with All Might. He soon finds out that the hero himself has suffered heavy damage in one of his past battles and can no longer hold on to his powerful form. His injury has gravely limited all Might. However, seeing Izuku give his all to save his friend from a monster inspires him. He pushes further beyond his limit to save both Izuku and Bakugo from the villain. Seeing Izuku’s great spirit, All Might tells him that he, too, can be a hero. With his quirk, One for All, All Might can make anyone a superhero since the quirk can be passed on. So, after rigorous training, Izuku finally manifests his hero’s own quirk.
He successfully passes the trials to enter class 1-A of the prestigious hero school, The UA. He dons the name Deku and, with his newly acquired powers, takes down foes far stronger than he used to be.

My Hero Academia is a famous series written and illustrated by Kohei Horikoshi. The anime has received great applause, and so has the manga it’s based on. It first appeared in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in July in the year 2014. Ever since then, it has been serialized in 30 tankabon volumes as of April 2021. It has been licensed in the English language for North America by Viz Media. At the same time, Shueisha has made efforts to make it available on Manga Plus, the free manga reading application.
The manga has sold millions of copies worldwide both, in print and digital. It had also received the prestigious Harvey Award for best manga in 2019. As of right now, My Hero Academia is on its 308th chapter. Deku has had to leave Class 1-A and his friends behind. The villain Tomura Shigaraki pursues him to obtain his One for All quirk somehow. As a result, Deku left his life at the UA to keep his friends and allies safe from Tomura.
The manga was also adapted into a popular anime from April to June in the year 2016. Ever since then, My Hero Academia has been going strong. Bones Studio took it over in association with Toho. The anime has aired 5 seasons and two films, which were released in the years 2018 and 2019, respectively. The fifth season of the anime is currently ongoing, with rumors for a 6th season doing the rounds.
Where are we in the story?
The fifth season of the series is already out. It was released on 27th March 2021. The last episode to air was the 90th which was released on the 3rd of April 2021. It follows in the footsteps of comics and is rightfully titled Vestiges. The last time we saw Deku, he had collapsed in his bed from a long day of training. He awakens in a dream-like state next to Nana Shimura, All Might’s predecessor and the one who bestowed One for All to him. Deku gets to talk to the first user of One for All, All for One’s brother. He shows him his past as he tries to plead to his evil brother not to commit the heinous acts he does. After showing Deku how he failed to convince his brother, the first user shows up, telling Deku not to worry and not alone.
