K-dramas are Korean-based dramas that have been popularised and created a huge fan base all over the world. By mentioning Korea, the band BTS comes to our mind and so are their dramas and web series. ‘My Absolute Boyfriend’ is a K-drama that was released in May of 2019. The series is a Korean television drama but is also available on the OTT platforms for other countries. It is consist of forty episodes with a running time of 25 to 30 minutes each. The story focuses on a unique love story between a human and a robot. Um Da-Da, a makeup artist of special effects broke the secret seven-year-long relationship with her boyfriend.
Her boyfriend, Ma Wang-Joon is a rising movie actor who prioritizes her career over her girlfriend. The story moves further with Da-Da and Zero nine, a humanoid, falling in love with each other. The struggles to be together, understating the true meaning of love and standing against Diana, the owner of Zero nine. The story beautifully portrays pure love and compassion irrespective of the differences.
‘My Absolute Boyfriend’ Ending Explained
The last episode of ‘My Absolute Boyfriend’ was aired on 11th July 2019. This brought an end to one of the most loved dramas of 2019. But, the last and season finale episode took an unusual turn. Here, the ‘My Absolute Boyfriend’ ending is explained. With pure love, care, and attachment, Yeong-gu has become the ‘absolute boyfriend’, giving justice to the title of the show. But, now Yeong-gu, the humanoid is spending his last days with Da-da as Yeong-gu’s internal mechanism can break down any minute. He was taken to a lab to do further research on him and Da-DA spends no minute without missing him. Wang-Joon is established as a successful actor and Da-Da is the CEO of a makeup company.
Yeong-gu is taken to the head office of the company as the needed research on him is done. There he gets shuts down after biding an emotional goodbye to Da-Da. Yeong-gu is then turned into a scarp and Da-Da is left heartbroken. In the last scene, we see Da-Da walking down on a snowy day when suddenly an umbrella appears overhead. But, the person holding the umbrella is not revealed. The series ends with suspense, leaving the audience in constant thinking about the person who held the umbrella. Despite the lengthy structure of the show, it managed to keep the audience’s attention stuck till the end of the series.

Will be there a second season?
The huge Fandom of ‘My Absolute Boyfriend’ demanded a second season. The ending of the drama’s last episode suggests the possibility of a second season also. However, there was no official announcement for a second season of the series. Although, the drama ends in a cliffhanger with the suspense of who might be the mysterious umbrella person. The creators shared no information regarding the production of season two.
‘My Absolute Boyfriend’ was inspired by a Japanese Manga titled ‘Absolute Boyfriend’. The Manga was created by Yuu Watase, a Manga artist of Japanese origin and has a total of six sequels. After the season finale episode, fans are all over the internet wondering about the mysterious person. Numerous theories were made regarding the umbrella man. Was it Yeong-gu? Was it Wang-joon? Or it was a secret admirer of Da-Da. We never got the answer. The creators and the actors as well remained silent on the topic of the mysterious person. Only the second installment of ‘My Absolute Boyfriend might clear our wonderings.
