Minnie Dlamini is a famous South African on-air personality, actress, and model. Dlamini was the new host of the SABC 1 Friday live music show Live Amp. Minnie tied the knot with Quinton Jones in a traditional ceremony at Glen Hills in KwaZulu-Durban Natal’s in June 2017. The couple also had a white wedding and documented their wedding in a three-part documentary. This special documentary was then released worldwide with the name, Mrs. Jones. The couple had a baby boy together named, Netha Jones on November 13, 2020.
The couple was happier than ever. Minnie posted all the little details about them on Instagram. But, Quinton was more of a low-key person who didn’t want any media attention. He did not use social media as much as Minnie did. The fans of the couple thought that the pair could never be separated. However, things turned out a little unexpected now when the pair is filing for a divorce.
How Did Their Relationship Start?
Dlamini and Quinton met in 2010. The pair met at Urban Brew Studios where they initially worked. Minnie said that Quinton became his best friend during those years. She also expressed in an interview with Jacaranda FM that even though there were romantic feelings between Quinton and Dlamini, they were never single at the same time. As time passed, their feeling for each other grow stronger. When both of them were eventually single, they gave romance a shot. They started dating and went out casually till the first year. However, at a holiday together both of them made things official.
In 2017, their famous three-part documentary became famous worldwide and shared intimate details of their wedding. The documentary was narrated by Minnie herself. It showed her bachelorette in Paris and White wedding in Cape Town. In an interview with Anele on her talk show Real Talk with Anele, Dlamini said, she believes Minnie and Quinton have a unique kind of relationship. She continued by saying that they were best friends for many years, so their communication is always very rigid and intense.
Minnie explained how she speak to him as she speak to her best friend. Minnie also expressed how there are a lot of things that new couples who are about to get married are still trying to figure each other out but, they’ve known each other for many years so they do not have to deal with it.
Why is the Couple getting a Divorce?
In 2018, it was the first time when rumors about trouble in paradise first started to surface. This comes as a shock to fans as it was just one year since the couple’s fairytale wedding. The rumors began spreading after the pair got involved in a heated argument at the Cape Town International Airport. Someone shot the video and rumors started spreading overnight. An eyewitness said that whenever Quinton tries to talk, Minnie would shout at him, saying, ‘don’t you dare talk to me,” After so many rumours about their divorce, Minnie finally addresses the ongoing reports by Tweeting that she is getting divorced then she is fighting in public with my husband. Don’t worry it was just sarcasm. She said that she ain’t going anywhere no matter what lies people try spreading.
Dlamini and Quinton became parents on 16 November 2020. The couple named their first son Netha Makhosini Jones. They chose this name after Minnie’s brother Khosini, who died in 2019. The couple’s relationship is quite solid and stable. Minnie frequently gives interviews about her happy little family and posts them on social media. It was in 2021 when the couple started having troubles. On Tuesday, the couple made a post on social media announcing their divorce. The post said that in the last 2 years, their family has experienced incredible joy and devastating loss.
During this time, both Quinton and Minnie found comfort in knowing they had each other. But, despite their best efforts to absorb the changes in motion, the emotional burden and the post-traumatic distress of their individual loss outweighed their will. The couple continued by saying that after months of separation and consultation with their family and a counselor, they have taken the decision to officially file for divorce. Their Instagram post said that they will remain friends, business partners, and loving parents to their son.
