Notre Dame said that “Manti had been the victim of what appears to be a hoax in which someone was using the name of Lennay ingratiated with Manti and then made him believe that she died of leukemia”. Manti told ESPN that he was a victim of the hoax and was not involved in any way. He said they only talked on messages on call and had never met her face to face.
