Last Sunday, what was supposed to be a great event where EA hoster the Madden NFL 19 Tournament, turned into a nightmare. All the spectators were expecting a great time at the event, little did they knew what was about to happen. During the live stream, an armed man stormed in and started firing.

It was reported that as many as dozens of gunshots were heard. The mass shooting was horrible, and three people were killed one of which was the gunman. It took place at the GLHF Game Bar in Jacksonville where the event was held. It was extremely unfortunate, and the company tweeted “This is a horrible situation, and our deepest sympathies go out to all involved.”

Madden NFL 19 Shooting: Survivor Files Lawsuit Against EA:

According to Sheriff Mike Williams, the gunman was identified as David Katz, he is 24 years old, and he participated in one of the Madded competitions in the past.

According to recent reports, one of the survivors has sued EA along with the mall and restaurant where the tournament was held; this was the first lawsuit filed by Jacob Mitich against EA, Chicago Pizza & Sports Grille, and Jacksonville Landing LLC. It is reported that Jacob Mitich was shot twice and he was extremely furious at the poor security at the event.

Mitich revealed that David was “pacing throughout the venue” after he lost his round earlier and he was in the proximity when David started firing. He did try to run away but, he was shot in his leg and at the back.

According to reports from Deadline, the complaint read, “He trusted the event host and organizers, and believed that he was walking into a safe space. That trust was shattered when shots rang out in an overcrowded, since-shut-down, non-permitted space.”

“We are bringing this lawsuit to hold those responsible accountable, and to ensure that gamers like Jake can get together to pursue their passion without having to fear for their lives.”

EA has promised that they will provide as sorts of help to the victims and they will conduct a “comprehensive review” of the security.
