Let’s now delve into all that episode 8 of Law & Order: SVU season 23 will entail. Spoilers ahead!
Episode 7 saw the team dealing with a harrowing case of a serial rapist. The episode opened with a woman named Daria Cruz entering SVU with horrid urgency. The reason for her horrors is her sister. Cruz had received a voicemail from her sister that she didn’t check for the whole night. When she did, the terrible reality of what had happened to her sister and what may happen struck her. The voicemail revealed that her sister Tanya was a victim of a sick rapist. She got ahold of her phone to send a voicemail after already being violated by the man. However, as the voicemail ends with the rapist exclaiming that no one cares for her, it seemed that Tanya’s efforts might not have sufficed to save herself from the horrible man.
Horrible Details Surface
Rollins and Velasco get on the case and start with Tanya’s acquaintance. Tanya was a sex worker and homeless. Her acquaintances, Snowflake and Missy, told the detectives about Beauty, a girl who might know something. However, Beauty wasn’t much help. The situation complicates after Snowflake and Missy rush to SVU to inform them that now Beauty is missing too. The detectives soon discover that Tanya and Beauty are among a dozen of similar cases. Rollins suspects that they must be dealing with a serial rapist.
They also learn some really horrid details about the victims after the medical examination of one of them. The intestines and liver were missing, and it was clear that it had been done through a butcher’s knife. This leads them to a butcher the girls are very familiar with — Country. He always kept their personal items safe from pimps and knew a great deal about them. However, after questioning him, some evidence surfaces that clears him off. They then get another lead from a kid, Jamal. He tells them about a vampire that roamed around in the night.
Making a Move and Capturing the Culprit
Taking that as a lead, the detectives look around and find a creepy room in an abandoned building. The room is full of dead women that have been mummified. The mummies are all sitting, with dresses on, like they’re at a dinner table. Tanya and Beauty’s corpses were among these mummies. The investigation moves forward, and the detectives eventually gain a significant lead. One of the victims’ son leads them to a trucker. This trucker, Trace, is brought in for questioning. The detectives use reverse psychology and finally get him to confess to his sick crimes.
Law & Order: SVU Season 23 Episode 8 Release Date & Preview
‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 23 episode 8 will release on November 11, 2021. The official synopsis hints towards a case of a witness being in the suspect list herself. It looks like as the case will move forward, the hands will point towards the witness herself being the culprit. The official promo paints with a wide brush, a vague picture of what awaits us next on SVU.
At the center of the upcoming episode’s plot is a triple homicide case. There’s a witness to the crime — a girl who also seems like a suspect. We see Carisi talking to the witness when she reveals her reason for not divulging much information. If we go by her claim, she would have been a victim of the killer if she had said anything about the crime. However, keeping the information from the detectives might prove to be a wrong move as she comes under suspicion herself.
The promo paints her part in the homicide as ambiguous. While some detectives are adamant that she is a suspect, others are not sure. Benson asks if she’s a suspect or a victim as the trailer comes to an end.
