A few weeks back we received news that some of the Naruto Shinden novels will be animated. We got an update on the status of the anime. This year’s combined sixth and seventh issued of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine confirmed that Naruto Shinden (The New Legend of Naruto) novel would be getting a television anime adaptation. The anime is going to air for three weeks, and it will start airing on February 10.
The magazine didn’t confirm that whether the novel adaptation will air within Boruto: Naruto Next Generations anime. But, the anime also airs on Sundays so, it is will very likely that it will air within in the anime. The combined issue of Weekly Shonen Jump also revealed a new key visual for the anime. However, the visual will not be available online before press time.
The novel series will feature three novels. These are Naruto Shinden, Sasuke Shinden, and Shikamaru Shiden. These books are set in the time when the lead characters are parents. Naruto Shinden shipped in Japan on May 2, Sasuke Shinden shipped in Japan on June 4, and Shikamaru Shinden shipped in Japan on July 4.
Mirei Miyamoto (Saiki Kusuo no Psi Nan film novelization) wrote Naruto Shinden, Jun Esaka wrote Sasuke Shinden, and Takashi Yano (Itachi Shinden) wrote Shikamaru Shinden. Original manga creator Masashi Kishimoto drew the illustrations for the novels.
Yano’s Itachi Shinden novels also inspired a television anime back in 2016. The books were released in English by Viz Media. There are other anime which received anime adaptations. These include Naruto: Sasuke’s Story, Naruto: Shikamaru’s Story, and Naruto: Konoha Hiden – Shūgen Biyori novels.
