Pokemon GO has been around for a long time now. The game was launched in July 2016. We are currently in 2019, and no one expected the game to do so well for such a long period. The mobile app data analysis organization Sensor Tower released a report in which they listed the revenue that had been earned by Pokemon GO, and the results are shocking.
Pokémon GO smartphone game earned an estimated US$795 worldwide in 2018. This is a 35% increase over its revenue from 2017. Since its release, the game has received US$2.2 billion. As you can see that game is continuing to grow at an exponential rate. Just in December, the game has seen an increase of 32% over the same month in 2017. In December, the game earned US$75 million.
Adding to this, the game’s per day also increased to US$2.2 million. This is a 38% increase from 2017’s average. The increase in revenue is also due to the new features that were introduced in the game. One of the main reasons behind a game dying is the developers sticking to the same old regime and not adding anything new. Niantic has done a brilliant job there.
In 2018, Niantic added research tasks, trading, and player-vs-player battle features. Out of the new features, the players were desperately waiting for the player vs. player battles. Many fans got that nostalgic feeling while doing these battles. Niantic also added connectivity with the Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! And Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! Games, which were released on November 16.
According to a filing with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, the game’s developer Niantic recently secured an investment of US$190,552,365 from a sale of equity.
