KotOR: Knights Of The Old Republic Remake

KotOR: Knights Of The Old Republic is getting a remake for PC and PS5. The game is considered to be Star Wars’ best role-playing game. The original game was launched 18 years ago. Still, the fans are not tired of talking about it. The game is still counted among one of the most loved games of all time. As the gaming industry is overgrowing, the new generation of gamers will get the chance to experience the remake of BioWare’s legendary video game.

Star Wars: KotOR is a renowned RPG video game series, which is based on the imaginary Star Wars universe by George Lucas. BioWare developed the first and third parts of the video game series. In contrast, Obsidian Entertainment developed the second installment as per the request of LucasArts, who was behind the launch of all the installments. The first part of the game was released in 2003.

The remake of the series won’t be developed by BioWare but by Aspyr, the studio that remastered Star Wars: Republic Commandos. And, the investment and support would be provided by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Aspyr has also come up with many Star War games, such as Episode 1 Racer, Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, and its sequel Jedi Outcast to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation. Even it also earlier ported Kotor for iOS devices. The game’s remake was announced on September 10, 2021. Here’s everything you should know about Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic.

What Is KotOR Remake?

Right now, we don’t have much information available about the remake, as Aspyr revealed that they are not ready to share more details at the moment. Still, we do have a little information based on Aspyr’s Ryan Treadwell’s interview during the showcase and the blog post on the PlayStation blog.

The game will not be a remaster. In fact, it would be reconstructed by the developers from scratch. Kotor’s remake will have all the modern technologies you can expect from a video game in 2021. But, the characters and the storyline will be the same as the original because one of the primary goals is to ‘maintain the moral’ of the original game.

The original game was launched back in 2003 for PC and Xbox. It briefs the story of two Sith Lords named Darth Malak and Darth Revan, who gathered the armada to demolish the Republic, 4000 years before the events of the nine main realms. Later, the developers came out with its sequel, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords, which was released in 2005.

According to Aspyr’s Developers, the remake will be full of innovation and stay loyal to the original game’s storyline. Also, the remake will be friendly for the series fans and the new generation gamers.

Kotor Remake Gameplay

At the moment, we don’t have any clarity on how the Gameplay would be like. The original game’s turn-based role-playing action game was deliberately based on the D20 system. As per the developers, the remake will include all the modern techniques. Now, we will have to wait a little longer to witness what the Gameplay will look like.

Is Kotor Remake A PS5 Exclusive?

The original game was released exclusively for the Xbox console in 2003. However, later in the same year, the game was also launched for PC gamers.

Similarly, Star Wars: KotOR Remake will be exclusive for PS5 but, it will also be released for PC gamers at the same time. We can also expect the launch for other consoles after the exclusivity period come to an end. Let’s hope it to be after six months of the release date.
