Kakegurui 2: Ultimate Russian Roulette New Trailer: The First Battle Scene

Kakegurui 2: Ultimate Russian Roulette

After being delayed multiple times, Kakegurui 2: Ultimate Russian Roulette is out in Japanese Theatres. The movie premiered on June 1, 2021. As usual, Kakegurui does not fail to drive the viewers insane with its supreme presentation of probability in the most dangerous way. If there was a word to describe the series, it would be “unpredictable”. Be it the manga or the anime, or its live-action adaptation, Kakegurui stands firm on adding as many dangerous vibes as it can. Taking gambling to a whole other extent, another live-action movie has been released. The movie was originally supposed to be released in April 2021. However, it was pushed back to May 2021 but was again delayed due to the State of Emergency. Although the movie was released on June 1, there has been no announcement regarding when it will be available for international viewers.

The source material of Kakegurui is the manga written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Toru Naomura. It was published by Square Enix and serialized in the Gangan Joker magazine in Japan. The manga is currently ongoing and has completed 14 volumes since 2014. Its English version of the manga is published by Yen Press. The plot deals with Jabami Yumeko as the protagonist who has a weird fetish of ‘betting it all’ while gambling. Set in Hyakkaoh Private Academy which becomes a gambling hub by night, the series features the most exciting mind games filled with thrill and danger.

A two-minute scene of Kakegurui 2: Ultimate Russian Roulette was released along with a short message from a cast member before the release of the movie. Here are all the details about the said video.

The Kakegurui Live-action Franchise

As aforementioned, Kakegurui is based on the manga by the same name. Before the live-action adaptation, the manga received an anime adaptation from MAPPA in 2017. The anime was followed by the second season in 2019. Both seasons of the anime are available for streaming on Netflix.

In 2018, the first Kakegurui live-action TV series was released. It aired on MBS and TBS. After the series ended, it returned with a live-action film later in the same year. In 2019, a second season was released as well. The two seasons of the TV drama are available for streaming on Netflix.

After receiving quite a good response, Kakegurui came back again for another movie which was released in June 2021.

A video game named Kakegurui: Cheating Allowed was also developed by Wizcorp and Crossover. It was available on Android and iOS in 2017. However, the game was shut down by 2020 due to some problems with the features of the game.

Kakegurui 2: Ultimate Russian Roulette – Message for the Viewers and the First Battle Scene.

On May 31, 2021, a video had a message from Ryūsei Fujii, who plays the role of Makuro Shikigami. Makuro Shikigami is an original character of the live-action series and will be making his debut in Kakegurui 2: Ultimate Russian Roulette as the antagonist. He is a messed up character with similar instincts as Jabami and Midari to bet lives while gambling. As per the information revealed about him, he had been suspended for an incident in the past and hence is making an entry this late in the franchise.

Ryūsei Fujii interacts with the fans in the first minute introducing his thoughts about Makuro Shikigami. He says that he is a kind person but the character played by him (Makuro Shikigami) is quite terrible as a person. He further extends his introduction by conveying that he has worked hard to play the role and he hopes that fans will like his performance.

The video proceeds to showcase the first battle scene. Makuro Shikigami is seen gambling against Sumeragi Itsuki. After she loses, Shikigami shows her his phone, where money is being transferred continuously from Sumeragi’s account to him. She begs him to stop but he does not. Finally, she says that she gives up and he should stop. He comes closer to her. Shikigami asks her where Yumeko Jabami is and the scene closes.

As expected, this was an intense scene where we are detailed about the sadistic nature of Shikigami. If fans weren’t already, they were extremely riled up after watching this scene.
