K-pop Comebacks in April 2021: The Biggest Hits

The Korean Popular Music industry is a worldwide sensation. Started to grow in 1996, with the boy band H.O.T., K-pop grew as a culture that gathered an enormous fan following. This fandom is prominent in teenagers and youngsters all over the world. K-pop was introduced in the neighboring markets like in Japanese, as a music genre around 2003. Since then, it has grown widely in the international market. The widespread of K-pop, also known as the Korean Wave, was largely possible through the emergence of social media platforms. Now, the culture of K-pop, K-dramas, along with the bands like Blackpink and BTS, has become a household name in the lives of people all over the world. Not only in South Asia but also in areas of Latin America, this genre is widely appreciated.

South Korean pop music was initially called ‘Gayo.’ Although its fan following initiated around 1996, it experienced a sudden increase in 2018. It became a significant factor in the growth of South Korea’s national revenue. In 2019, K-pop as a genre ranked number six in the list of top ten music markets internationally. BTS and Blackpink was cited as the top artists of the K-pop wave. It became the fastest growing media market in 2019. Bangtan Boys (BTS)

The worldwide sensation boy band BTS will be having its Japanese Release called “Film Out.” This is the first time the group entered the Hot 100 in this language. Along with this, the song is also available in the Korean language. It is a part of a new music album, BTS, the Best. It was released on April 2, 2021, through Universal Music Japan.  The song is available on Spotify, Amazon Music, etc.

ASTRO

One of the famous bands of K-pop featuring the chocolate boy Cha Eun Woo, ASTRO made a comeback with a new song, ONE. It is the title song of a new full-length album, “All Yours.” It is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and more. It was released on April 5, 2021.

3YE

3YE, also known as the Third Eye, is a trio formed by GH Entertainment. It debuted in 2019 with a digital single “DMT.” The winners of the “Most Anticipated Idol Award” at the KY Star Awards, 3YE announced its comeback with the latest digital single titled” Stalker.” It was released on April 1, 2021. It is available on Amazon Music, Apple Music, and Spotify.

Blackpink’s Rosé: Solo Debut

The member of Blackpink, Rosé, will have a solo debut with the latest song named “Gone.” Being released on April 5, 2021, the song depicts the loss of a relationship. It is a project named “R,” which also includes the song “On the Ground.” The group, debuted in 2016, released a solo debut of its member Jennie in 2018. Rosé’s ‘R’ thus marks the second solo release by a Blackpink member.

Red Velvet showcasing Wendy’s solo debut

Red Velvet is a South Korean K-pop band managed by SM Entertainment. Wendy, a famous artist from the girl band, is the first member to make a solo debut, named ‘Like Water.’ The album consists of five different tracks, including a duet with another member, Seulgi. The song hit the internet on April 5, 2021. It is available on Spotify. Also, the music video is available on SM Entertainment’s official YouTube channel.

Other Latest Releases: Debuts and Comebacks

Mamamoo’s Whee In will make her comeback with a new solo named WaterColor. It is the title track off her newly released solo mini-album ‘Redd.’ It is being released on April 3, 2021, on various platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. The official video, which is said to have a hypnotizing characteristic, is available on YouTube.

Along with this, artists like Davichi, Hoshi Seventeen, Exo’s Chanyeol are making their comeback with the songs named Just Hug me, Spider, Tomorrow, respectively. Moon Yujeong, also known as Gowoon of Berry Good, is back on the screens with her solo release named Weird, available on Apple Music, along with the official video on YouTube.

EXILE will be back with its first single to celebrate its 20th Anniversary. Although the track, Paradox, will originally be the 51st single of the group. It is set for being released on April 27, 2021, in five editions.  These were some of the most anticipated releases, debuts, and comebacks for the month of April.
