Is Jujutsu Kaisen Getting A Movie?

Is Jujutsu Kaisen available to stream on Netflix?

Jujutsu Kaisen, by now, almost every anime fan must’ve at least heard the name. It is doubtlessly a brilliant show with great storytelling and amazing characters to boast. Adapted from the manga written and illustrated by Gege Akutami. It was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine with fifteen volumes out so far. It is a wildly popular series in all of its formats. It’s licensed in English by the famous Viz Media.

However, it has also been made available by Shueisha on the Manga Plus app. So if you’re looking to read the source material before watching the anime, these are two great sources to read it from. If you enjoy reading light novels, then do we have news for you. Jujutsu Kaisen also has not one, but two light novels under its belt. Written by Ballad Kitaguni which were released in 2019 and 2020.

What’s more interesting is that the anime is produced by MAPPA, famous for Terror in Resonance, Kakegurui, and the fourth and final season of Attack on Titan. Clearly, MAPPA is a big name in the anime industry. And for such a great production house to be behind an already great series is just a cherry on the top.

The first season has received stellar applause from everyone. It has 24 episodes and is available on Crunchyroll for viewers outside Asia. It aired in October and November 2020 for different regions and dubs. Ever since the anime became popular, the manga’s popularity soared even higher. As of right now, Jujutsu Kaisen has sold over 35 Million Copies in print and digital versions. That is a staggering amount which makes it one of the highest-selling manga of all time.

Plot

Jujutsu Kaisen

Yuji Itadori

Jujutsu Kaisen is centered around a world of sorcery. There are all kinds of magic here, even universities teaching magic like the Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College. The show features Shamans, Humans, and Curses. Shamans are basically people with insane magical abilities. They’re above human for sure but aren’t all that physically different either. Curses are manifestations of things like hatred, envy, etc. And humans are, well, us. Normal people unrelated to any of this.

Yuji Itadori was just any other guy. He had an amazing physique and natural talent when it came to sports and the field. However, he had no interest in running around on the track. So he decided to join the Occult Research Club. He joined it for fun but he had no idea things would get so serious so quickly. A cursed object is brought into the club. Yuji comes across a Shaman named Megumi who had been to sent to retrieve the object.

Things get out of hand when the spirit attached to the object (a finger) starts roaming around in school wreaking havoc. To save his friends and Megumi, Yuji decides to swallow the finger, hence giving himself magical abilities from the curse. The finger belongs to one of the most powerful Cursed Spirit named Ryomen Sukuna. In the golden age, all the sorcerers had to come together to defeat Sukuna. And even then, he still existed with his remains scattered so he could come back someday.

Having consumed Sukuna’s finger curses Yuji permanently. This plunges him into the world of Shamans. Will he be executed by the Shamans so that Sukuna is blocked from coming back? Or will he be assisted to become stronger? Megumi’s teacher, Gojo Satoru takes Yuji in to hopefully make things better for his future and thus the saga continues.

Season 1 and Movie

Jujutsu Kaisen

Jujutsu Kaisen

The first season adapted from the introductory arcs all the way until the Death Painting arc from the manga. If we follow the manga serially, the next arc it should cover is Gojo’s Past Arc. This is where the exciting news comes in. According to some sources on Twitter, a domain was registered for Jujutsu Kaisen Movie on the internet. While there has been no announcement for the same, fans are taking this as a hint for the future of the series. If the movie comes out, it will be interesting to see if it carries on the story canonically or not. Either way, we cannot wait.

Here is the link to the domain. The site has nothing on it but it is for certain registered for some reason.

You can go and binge-watch all the 24 episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen on Crunchyroll and we will keep you updated regarding any news about the movie. Do you think a new movie is in the works? Let us know in the comments.
