Chapter 172 ended with Reggie star losing to Megumi in a fight of domain expansions. Both of their domains failed to make a decisive blow, but Megumi made the most from the environment around him and crashed Reggie into the heated pool of the gymnasium. With that, Reggie couldn’t use his cursed receipts anymore since they were all wet. Everything came to a duel, where Reggie was completely overpowered by Megumi. Is it really the end of Reggie’s Culling games journey in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 173?
Megumi bluffed about his incapability to use any shikigami anymore and patiently waited for Reggie to drop his guard, thereby defeating him in a single move. It turned out that Megumi’s demon dog wasn’t immobilized after all. He bluntly claimed that Reggie’s knives weren’t strong enough to contain a shikigami that powerful. Here, we bring together the latest chapter updates of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga.
Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 173: Speculations, Raw Scans, and Spoilers
Unlike Itadori, Megumi isn’t bounded by any sort of no-kill ideology. He proved how serious he was by mercilessly killing Chizuru Hari without the slightest hesitations. However, in order to win the game, he can’t afford to act this rashly. He still needs points to introduce another rule that enables the players to exit the game by spending points. So, the wiser way out should be taking all the points from Reggie either by negotiation or through torture.
Meanwhile, Fumihiko is still fighting Reggie’s companion, and I am looking forward to seeing how the comedian deals with the explosion user. If things go south, I am sure Megumi would be intervening the fight to assist Fumihiko. Then again, considering Megumi’s serious injuries, I doubt how much help he will be.
Raw Scans and leaks of Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 173 are now out- Megumi, and Reggie has a short conversation, where Megumi forces Reggie to transfer all his points. Just before passing away, Reggie bluntly says “Let fate toy with you and kill you like a clown.” Moreover, Reggie seems to recognize Master Tengen and gets astonished at how the old man lived so long. In the next scene, Remi is seen getting chased by a shadow that turns out to be Megumi’s demon dog. Just when Megumi is about to kill her, Tsukimi shows up and stops her.
Meanwhile, in Takaba vs. Hanekozi fight, Hanekozi’s explosives did little to no damage to Takaba. From the way Takaba keeps regenerating his injuries, it’s pretty clear that Takaba’s cursed technique is comparable to that of Satoru Gojo. However, Hanekozi immediately retreats when Koganne informs him about Reggie’s death. The chapter ends with a huge cliffhanger, where Megumi is seen heavily injured, and Hana Kurusu (Angel) gradually descends from the sky. Apart from being an intriguing chapter, it also reveals vital information about four more potent Culling games participants.
Druv Lakdawalla: 91 points-He seems to be the oldest participant of the Culling games, and uses two types of stand-alone shikigamis. He can even use his shikigami’s trajectory as a domain.
Ryu Ishigoori: 77 points- Uses a cannon-type thing to maximize his cursed technique output.
Takako Uro: 70 points- Possess the overpowered cursed technique for manipulating the sky. She was the former leader of the assassination team that served the Fujiwara family.
Kurourushi: 54 points- It’s one of the cursed spirits formed by the Pseudo- Geto’s (or Kenjaku’s) cursed manipulation technique.
The final panel ended with preview of Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 174, where Yuta Okkotsu destroys the ‘four pillars.’ According to the records of Jujutsu higher-ups, he is the next best sorcerer after Gojo. Right now, Yuta is at 35 points and is planning to multiply them fast as the Culling games go on.
Chapter 172 Recap
An ordinary human can handle a maximum of 5 G’s of force before losing consciousness. Fushiguru is well aware of the risks, so he lowered his center of mass and reinforced his body with cursed energy to deal with the three vehicles weighing 2.4 tons (40 G force). Meanwhile, with the weight of an elephant on his shoulders, Reggie’s situation is far worse. An elephant alone can weigh as much as 6 tons, and Reggie’s body gradually started to break down.
For the first time, we see fear in Reggie’s eyes. He can’t help thinking about the consequence if he sinks into Megumi’s shadow. He doubts if he will manage to escape the dense shadow even if Megumi dies. Just when we thought either of them would be crushed to death, Reggie drops a two-story wooden house on them. Megumi already anticipated such a desperate move, and he crashed Reggie into the hot pool of the gymnasium.
This was the genius move that almost confirmed Megumi’s victory. Reggie cannot use his cursed receipt anymore since all of them are wet. Megumi agrees that he can’t use his Shikigamis either and invites Reggie for a decisive short-range fight. Little did Reggie know that Megumi was bluffing about his shikihgami inability to catch him off-guard. Just when Reggie starts dominating the fight, Megumi summons his demon dog and lands the finishing blow.
