Philip John Clapp, better known as Johhny Knoxville, is an American stunt performer, actor, comedian, and filmmaker. Knoxville is best known for creating and starring in 3 seasons of the MTV reality show: Jackass, which had aired from 2000 to 2002. He has also acted in other movies like Men in Black II, A Dirty Shame, The Dukes of Hazzard, and in cameo roles in the Last Stand and Skiptrace. Johnny Knoxville was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, to father Philip, a tire and car salesman, and Lemoyne Clapp, who taught the Sunday School. He has two older siblings, both of them sisters. His interest in acting spiked when his cousin, Roger Alan Wade, now a singer-songwriter, gave him a copy of On the Road by Jack Kerouac. After graduating High School, he moved to California in 1989.

Knoxville started his acting career as an extra and through appearing in commercials. He waited for the “big” break to come to him, but when he didn’t, he began to try and create one for himself. Knoxville made a video of testing self-defense equipment on himself, which captured the interest of Big Brother magazine. His stunts were then filmed and included in the Number Two video by Big Brother’s magazine.
Thereafter, Jeff Tremaine of Big Brother and Johnny Knoxville pitched an idea to Spike Jonze, a film director, and thus was Jackass born. Johnny is the idea-head of his Jackass team, and others often look at him as a leader. The show is directed by Jeff Tremaine. Along with his Jackass co-stars Chris Pontius, Steve-O, and director Jeff Tremaine, and producer Elyashkevich, Johnny participated in Gumball 3000.
Johnny’ Career in Film & TV:
He is best known for his role in Jay Chandrasekhar’s The Dukes of Hazzard, where he starred in a role opposite to Seann William Scott. He starred in all the movies of the Jackass franchise: Jackass: The Movie; Jackass Number Two, and Jackass 3D. In Men in Black II, he had the role of a two-headed alien. He walked as a supporting character in the movie Walking Tall, which also starred The Rock. Johnny also starred in the movie Daltry Coulhaun, The Ringer, and Lords of Dogtown.
He guest-starred on Season 3 of Viva La Bam entitled Prank Wars. In this episode, he and Ryan Dunn pranked with Bam Margera by trashing the latter’s Hummer, among other things. He made an appearance in the Family Guy too, and co-produced the Dudesons. In 2010, he made the three-part series entitled Detroit Lives, which he made for Palladium Boots. The videos talked about the re-emergence of the creativity wave in Detroit. He also voiced in a 2012 episode of the famous cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants. In the movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, he voiced Leonardo in 2014, but his voice wasn’t used in the sequel.

He has a daughter Madison (born in 1996), from his first marriage to Melanie Lynn Cates, which ended in 2008. Then, in 2009, his girlfriend Naomi Nelson gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Naomi and Johnny married on September 24th, 2010, and she gave birth to a daughter in October 2011.
