Big Shot Season 2 Potential Plotlines
In season one, we saw Marvyn adjusting to his new job post after getting sacked from his NCAA gig. His new job at the Westbrook girls academy is not what he’s accustomed to. Still, the girls he gets to coach find a way into his heart. Consequently, by the end of season one, we find that he and his team are far more cohesive. Still, he faces a conundrum, when the UCSB offers him a job, he might feel inclined to take it. And in doing so, he might let down the girls.
We might see some fallout from Marvyn’s choices in season one in season two. Now, if Marvyn does take the job at USCB, that’s an entire storyline. If he stays at Westbrook, working with those girls might become something that will find a way into his heart. On another note, Emma must make a choice for the future, right at the end of season one, she was aiming to go to Wisconsin.

Big Shot Season 1 Recap
John Stamos plays irate basketball coach Marvyn Korn, a man who can’t control his temper, and because of that, gets booted off an NCAA Men’s basketball team. As he moves on, he finds a job coaching high school basketball at Westbrook Academy, an all-girls school. At first, he thinks of that as a great demotion. As soon as he starts, he finds that’s no easy task. His no-holds-barred approach at coaching a bunch of Gen-Z girls clashes with them.
Things start off really bad for him when Marvyn cuts off from the team a rich daddy’s girl named Louise. And for his misfortune, it’s the daughter of the man who helped Marvyn grab the job at Westbrook. Facing pressure, he still pushes on. Later on, Marvyn makes yet another mistake when he allegedly fat shames a player when all he did was tell her to lose weight so she could be better on the court.
Marvyn in Trouble
Marvyn has trouble adapting to the new workplace. And we get to see that all through this season. Firstly with those two incidents. But later on, he makes mistakes with his fellow colleagues in the teaching staff, causing workplace tension. To begin, his assistant coach Holly tries to connect with him and invites the man over for a couple of beers. During the talk, they find out that they have strikingly similar lives, they’re both divorced, and we get to know Marvyn’s character arc, a man who puts his job before his relationships. Which allows the scriptwriters to develop his flawed character further in season 2.
John Stamos’ performance is great, as Marvyn, the man, lives and breathes basketball and sportsmanship. On the other hand. Holly is another flawed character, she’s unfaithful, and her incapacity to remain loyal to her former husband crashed her marriage. This might seem to create a spark between the two. But then again, Marvyn sets his eyes on another woman, Principal Sherilyn, with whom he has an intermittent emotional connection. The duo seems eye to eye and knows what to say and when to keep their mouths shut.
Marvyn’s Personal Life
Despite his professional woes, Marvyn seems to get the team on track, he coaches the girls into a successful path and leads them into winning streaks. Motivating them into successful mindsets. Which is something coaches do. Now, on a personal level, Marvyn comes from a failed marriage that spawned a daughter. His relationship with his daughter is quite flawed, and he wants to make amends. Moreover, his daughter lives with his ex-wife but is willing to move in with Marvyn. But there’s a caveat. Marvyn’s an emotionally crippled man. The moment she moves in with the man, she notices how hyper-focused the man is on basketball and how he emotionally neglects the ones around him.
The Cliffhanger
Right at the end of the season, UCSB hires Marvyn Korn as its new head coach. When he arrives at the academy, he is taken aback by the sight of their magnificent court. Marvyn mulls over the offer and informs those in Westbrook Academy of his potential departure. Emma’s mother —Marvyn’s daughter— suggests enrolling her in a Wisconsin prep school, but she is heartbroken at the prospect of leaving. During the dress rehearsal, she has a fight with Harper, who has duped her mom into granting her the major role. Marvyn greets the key players of the new team he’ll be coaching and seems up to the challenge. He later consoles Emma by informing her that she is not obligated to leave the city.
Christina also explains that she adopted Destiny when she was a child because her birth parents were considering placing her for adoption. Meanwhile, the board is hesitant to appoint Holly as Marvyn’s successor as head coach. Before Marvyn had a chance to tell them, the girls figured out the truth, thanks to camera footage of Holly congratulating him on his new position. Marvyn expresses his appreciation to everyone who came to see the play, but Destiny claims that they are only there because of Emma. Marvyn makes every effort to explain why this is such a crucial step for him. The girls, on the other hand, are enraged. As the one who beheads Beth Macbeth, Emma gives a dramatic portrayal as a figure who sacrifices his family and friendship for power and rank. Marvyn is unsure if he is the same person.
The Carlsbad Game
In the final episode, Marvyn was coaching the girls to play against Carlsbad academy. A tough opponent. Marvyn and the girls arrive at Carlsbad, and they find that the visitor’s locker room has the heat temperature set all the way up and that the trophies decorate the locker room as to intimidate them. But Marvyn coaches the girls into not fearing those scare tactics. Eventually, the girls win. Scoring the final point at the last second.
The final scene contemplates Marvyn and Holly talking about the future. While Marvyn ponders about going away, so does Holly, who plans to take a coaching gig at Carlsbad. All the while, Marvyn makes an emotional speech as the girls wind up for one last round of practice as the heat moves on and the girls pass the ball around for just another day at the court. With this, we conclude our coverage of Disney’s Big Shot here at Otakukart. Thanks for reading our piece, and please keep coming back for more daily updates on all your favorite series and movies.
