The new trailer for Netflix’s Malayalam thriller “Irul” is here starring Fahadh Faasil in the lead. Now the actor is making his presence felt all over again. The accomplished star is known for movies like Kumbalangi Nights (2019) and Trance (2020). Now the new Netflix outing sees Fassil bring in rainy nights, murder mysteries, weird games, and psychological elements to life. Naseef Yusuf Izzudin directed the film centering around only three characters. Soubin Shahir and Darshana Rajendran will join Fahadh Faasil in the ultimate game of whodunnit. Amidst the pandemic, Irul will also mark Faasil’s second film to release in a direct-to-video format.
Netflix India recently dropped the official trailer for “Irul”. Things are quite hyped. The performances of the actors are quite top-notch. Plus, the dark nature the film is carrying. So anyway here we are taking a look at everything we know about Irul so far and when the movie will be available to stream. So, let’s begin.

Plot and Trailer For Irul
The official synopsis released by Netflix for Irul talks about a dark sophisticated tale. It starts off to a dark night rainy night in an empty house. Two couples and an unknown man are stranded. A game of cat and mouse begins the moment they found about a dead body in the basement. Furthermore, the recently dropped trailer by Netflix gives us more insight into “Irul”. There is quite a history behind the house it is set in.
Fahadh Faasil’s character in Netflix’s Irul talks about the novel he wrote years. Featuring a real tale of someone who murdered 5-6 took place years ago. The trailer further dives deep into the motives of the murderer they are talking about. As stated, the novelist didn’t clearly tell the motives of the murderer.
Furthermore, the trailer teases something more sinister in the basement of the house. Soubin Shahir’s character discovers it. In a way, we can see him losing his mind. There is a chase and run sequence. Who’s killing who, all remains a mystery. Nothing much is revealed yet. There is a tendency to create tension around the story. Who or what made the murderer do these things remains to be seen. Plus, the motives might be the much important element in shaping the plot. The story might base around it and much will be revealed when we watch the Netflix thriller.
Also note, Netflix’s Irul is carrying a few horror elements here and there. All lights off and on and things. Still, at the end of the day, it ultimately bases on the element of “whodunnit”. We may see the couple and Fahadh Fassil’s character turning up against each other. Especially when they discover the body in the basement. How it all turns out is left to be seen though. It may also remind you of Hollywood Thriller “Identity” starring John Cusack. Not the story but the setting is similar in one way. The Cast Of Irul
Netflix’s Irul completely bases on three characters. Thus only three cast members are joining the film. Fahadh Faasil leads the film with Soubin Shahir and Darshana Rajendran. Their character names are not revealed yet. On the other hand, this won’t be the first time they are working together. Especially, Fahadh Faasil has worked with both the actors previously. Fahadh Faasil and Soubin Shahir worked and acted together for critically acclaimed Kumbalangi Nights. On the other hand, Darshana Rajendran joined the screen with Fahadh for C U Soon.
Irul Release Date
The Malayalam thriller Irul is releasing on 2nd April 2021 and will be available to stream on Netflix as an original. Irul will also mark the directorial debut of Naseef Yusuf Izuddin. In past, he has been associated with many successful films. These may include Newton, Badlapur, and Tumbbad. Plus, Izuddin is also an alumnus of Canada’s Vancouver Film School.
Furthermore, Irul will have a runtime of around 90 minutes. Anto Joseph Film Company and Plan J Studios are producing the film. As mentioned above, this Fahadh’s second film to receive a direct-to-video format. Amazon Prime’s computer-screen-based film C U Soon was his first film to do so which featured Darshana Rajendran as well.
