In Black-ish Season 8 Episode 5, Dre Johnson keeps losing his cool after Devante left the house full of ashes. And we’ll see what’s all behind that in that upcoming episode. In the last episode, titled “Hoop Dreams” we saw Jack getting a gig at the L.A. Lakers locker room. And we also saw how Bow and Dre felt like they needed to intervene before that job got the best of him.

If you’re not familiar with Black-ish, it is an ABC black-centered comedy starring Marcus Scribner, Tracee Ellis Jones, Laurence Fishburne, and Anthony Anderson. In it, the Johnsons are an African American family facing the everyday life of middle-upper class American society while they deal with complex situations like teenage growth spurts, puberty, work, romantic relationships, and other stuff. Now without any further ado, let’s begin covering this topic.

Black-ish Season 8 Episode 4 Recap

Andre reflects on the various jobs he held as a child, and how his children do not face the same difficulties. They’re clearly spoiled, and Andre begins to wonder if he was too gentle with them as they grew up. Jack impresses both of his parents by announcing that he has gotten a job as a locker room attendant for the Lakers. Jack got the job on his own, and his parents are overjoyed, which irritates Junior, who has been working for a while.

Ruby realizes in the guesthouse that she and Pop have been eating shrimp scampi and watching Jeopardy every Tuesday for the past five weeks. For a long time, they’ve had the same schedule any day, every week. When Jack takes Andre to work with him on his first day, Andre tries to advise him on how to work with celebrities. Jack meets Dwight Howard and is overjoyed that his new job allows him to hang out with pro ballers and get the attention he doesn’t get at home.

Ruby Inquires About Junior and Olivia

Ruby inquires as to how Junior and Olivia keep their relationship fresh and unpredictable, and they respond by surprising her with surprise dates or confetti cannons. Dwight Howard, on the other hand, seeks Jack’s advice. Andre and Bow are concerned that Jack will struggle on his first day at work, but that it will teach him responsibility. Jack arrives home from work with a match Lakers jersey and a brand new, bright red McClaren, telling his parents that his first day went well.

Dwight Howard owns the car and has asked Jack to keep it for him while he sells his Lamborghini. Bow is concerned that after hanging out with ballers, Jack will expect a lavish lifestyle, but Andre assures him that they will set boundaries for him so that he is not disappointed.

Big Money

Pops is surprised by Ruby’s confetti cannon, but he finds it frightening rather than sexy. For Jack’s second day at work, Andre and Rainbow set some ground rules, including that he can’t bring any more fancy cars home. He promises to keep up with his grades and complete all of his chores, but when Dwight asks him to run some errands for Anthony Davis, he becomes frustrated that his parents despise his new job and refuse to allow him to work. Jack decides to do whatever he wants after Dwight Howard reminds him that trolls mean you’re doing something right.

Quit Your Job

Pops realizes Ruby is trying to spice up their relationship when he tells Junior that Ruby tried to confetti him. He inquires as to what Junior and Olivia do to keep things interesting, and they reveal that they spend the entire night asking each other deep questions.

Despite the fact that Dre and Rainbow have established ground rules with Jack, he informs them that he will not be returning home before putting on the do not disturb sign. Andre and Bow go out to find him, with Diane following behind to witness his punishment. When they arrive, they humiliate Jack and force him to resign from his job.
