“Blackpink: Light Up the Sky” is a documentary film that is based on the story of the South Korean girl group Blackpink. The movie shows us their life as bandmates and individuals. Apart from this, it also explains to us how they rose to fame and how they reacted to all of it. Caroline Suh was the director of the movie, whereas Luke McCoubrey took care of the cinematography. Zara Duffy, Jon Kamen, Cara Mones, and Dave Sirulnick are the producers of the film. RadicalMedia was the production company behind it as Netflix took on as the distributor of the movie. This was going to be Blackpink’s first-ever documentary. However, it was even more special as it was going to be Netflix’s first original K-pop content.
The documentary movie covers four years of Blackpink since its debut in 2016. It consists of video footage from their days of training, a look into their daily routine life, behind-the-scenes tales, and interviews with the members. The film gradually follows the making and the life of a K-pop star. Apart from all this, it also focuses on the recording process of the group’s debut studio album “The Album” and Rosé’s upcoming solo debut. Lalisa Manoban: Lalisa Manoban, better known as Lisa is a Thai singer, rapper, and dancer based in South Korea. She is best known for her works from “Lisa TV”, “Real Man 300”, “Ringa Linga”, and “Blackpink in Your Area”.
