The singer and other members of the record company were at the Abaco Islands in the Bahamas to shoot a music video titled “Rock the Boat”. Things changed as the shooting finished earlier than planned. Aaliyah and her crew had arrived on the island in a different and bigger airplane. However, they decided to leave early as the filming was complete. This leads them to book a different plane which was smaller than the previous one.
They all piled up their belongings and boarded the plane. The plane had a smaller limit which they all ignored in the rush of going to America. The extra load resulted in the plane crashing only after a short while. The plane only lifted to about two hundred feet when it crashed and caught fire. Aaliyah and all the other members died in the crash, including the pilot. According to reports, the pilot tried to convince the passengers not to board the plane as the plane was overloaded. The engine also showed problems while trying to start. However, no one listened to him and told him to take off at any cost.
