Veteran homesteader Marty Raney teaches struggling homesteaders around the nation how to survive in the wilderness. He does this in conjunction with his daughter Misty Raney, a farmer, and son Matt Raney, a hunter and fisherman.

Even though there is a lot on the line, the Raney family is unwavering in their commitment to securing the well-being of the other homes and preparing them for the unfavorable consequences of nature. Every family has to choose between spending their first year in the wild and going back to civilization.

Recap
The Raneys fight to restore an inherited homestead in the Wyoming hill country with a tragic past; Marty has to figure out the secret of an untapped well to provide water to the property; and Misty and Matt team up on one of their biggest construction projects.
Homesteaders in Virginia who live in buses struggle to make ends meet. When the Raneys find that their son has been transferred to live with his grandmother until the homestead can flourish, they launch one of the largest family reunion rescue operations ever to bring the family back together.
The Raneys find their match on an Idaho ranch where millennials who live off the grid deal with issues including dead soil, frequent landslides, and visits from grizzly bears. To make matters worse, one of the Raneys is struck by COVID once more, endangering the rescue attempt.
After receiving an urgent call from Central Alaska, the Raneys locate a family that has all the necessary resources but little expertise to fulfill their desire. The Raneys need to assist them in preparing for the upcoming spring and winterize them because below-freezing temperatures are expected.
The Raneys are called to a Washington state homestead, where they discover the couple’s cabin has collapsed. With winter weeks ahead of them and a deadly predator funnel on the property, the race is on to find a solution for the threats of predators, food, and shelter.
Built on the historical ruins of an abandoned mining town, a homestead in Kentucky experiences biblical floods. Marty restores the original barn, Matt creates a cattle escape pod, and Misty creates her first floating greenhouse to raise the family above the sea.

The title for the episode is “Where the Wild Wind Blows.” Hurricane-force winds decimate a Colorado war veteran’s family and their horse stable, making survival all but impossible. However, the Raneys go all out with some of their most imaginative creations to date when they tell others about their bigger plan.
