Hocus Pocus was released back in 1993 and still sits tightly inside the hearts of all the fans. It is an American film curated, especially in the genre of fantasy as well as comedy. Kenny Ortega has directed this story, while the script has been written by Neil Cuthbert as well as Mick Garris. As for the plot, the film throws light on a trio of witches who are pretty humorous throughout the story. They come into scenes through resurrection by a teenage boy who accidentally carries out the task. It all happens in Salem, Massachusetts, right on the eve of Halloween. The time is set to the 31st of October 1963, when Thackery Binx watches his sister being carried away inside the woods by the Sanderson sisters. These are actually three witches named Winifred as well as Sarah and Mary.
At this estranged cottage in the woods, they feed Emily a potion that takes away her youthfulness and, in the process, kills her. In return, the witch gains her youth. Binx tries to confront the three witches about the sin they just committed, but they get irritated and turn him into a black cat. He is cursed to live forever with the guilt for not saving Emily. Soon enough, the townsfolk arrest the three sisters for murdering Emily and Thackery and sentence them to death. Although, Winifred casts a curse that the three sisters will return on a full moon on All Hallows’ Eve if a virgin blows light into the Black Flame Candle. Thackery gets on his business to guard the cottage in order to make sure that no one summons the witches ever.
The story then begins three centuries later, in 1993, when Max Dennison does not feel right in Salem because his parents abruptly moved him to Salem from Los Angeles, California. On the night of Halloween, Max and his younger sister Dani go out trick or treating. Max develops a huge crush on a girl here named Allison. He wants nothing else but to impress her and thus, invites her to the Sanderson house to prove that witches are real. Inside the cottage, he lights the Black Flame Candle, and this resurrects the witches because of his virginity.
The witches then try to get the life out of Dani, but Max comes to her rescue. While escaping from the cottage, Max steals the spellbook of Winifred. Thackery now goes by the name Binx and takes the children to an old cemetery where he shows them the graves of Emily and Billy Butcherson. Billy used to be a lover of Winifred, but she found him kissing her sister Sarah. Thus, she poisoned him and sealed his lips shut so that he could never be able to spill her secrets. The witches found the group and resurrect Billy in the form of a zombie to chase the kid’s life.
Well, the resurrection of the witches has a loophole. They have to suck the life out of at least one child on Halloween itself, or they will turn to ashes by the time sun rises. Thus, they try to pursue children across town. A whole lot of chaos follows between Max and the group as they try to trap the witches inside a kiln in order to burn them alive. The kids think that they have killed the witches, but the curse revives them again. The children open the spellbook in hopes of getting Binx back. But this gives away their location, and the witches track them down and kidnap Dani and Binx to recover the spellbook. Sarah uses her special siren-like sound to entice the children of Salem and lure them to Sanderson’s cottage.
