Game of Thrones Season 8 Premiere Review: Breath of Fresh Air

At long last, the first episode of the final season of Game of Thrones is out and it has made a lot of fans experience some mixed emotions. They ought to be super happy about the new season but are sad that it is the last one. The episode kicked off with Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow along thousands of soldiers and some pretty awesome reaching Winterfell.

Sansa Stark doesn’t seem happy that their King Jon Snow has bent the knee to Daenerys Targaryen and similar are the feelings of the allies of Starks but Jon Snow thinks that this battle is all that matters. Meanwhile, Euron got to spend some time alone with Cersei and Theon freed his sister and now is headed for Winterfell to battle alongside Starks once again.

Sam got to know that his family has been killed by the Queen Daenerys Targaryen and was urged to tell Jon Snow the truth about his origins by Bran Stark. Sam told Jon Snow that he is the real heir to the Iron Throne and not Daenerys Targaryen as his real name is Aegon Targaryen and he is not a bastard and has always been the one true king. This obviously has caught Jon by surprise and it will be interesting to see whether or not Daenerys Targaryen agrees with this truth or labels it as treason.

Also, Jamie Lannister has arrived at Winterfell and guess who is there to welcome him, out of all people Bran Stark is there well as they say karma is a bitch. Jamie pushed off Bran Stark when he caught Cersei and Jamie having sex which resulted in Bran losing his legs, and the iconic line that Jamie said that time was ‘Things we do for love’.

Now, that love of Jamie Lannister is sleeping with another man and we can certainly say that love hasn’t been kind to Jamie Lannister nor has the fate.

Nonetheless, the most awesome moment of the episode was when Jon Snow was flying on a dragon alongside Daenerys Targaryen. This was easily one of the iconic scenes of the series. Meanwhile, the Night King has left a message for the humans as he marches towards Winterfell. The episode was just awesome, even though the story didn’t unfold that much but whatever was showcased was awesome.

We are just lucky to live in an age when Game of Thrones is being released. Just wow, I don’t want it to end. Fortunately, there are some spin-offs of Game of Thrones on the horizon as well. Let’s hope that the next episode is even more awesome than the last one.
