Gal Gadot, the 39-year-old actress, recently opened up about a frightening health scare she faced while pregnant with her fourth child. The Wonder Woman star revealed that, at eight months pregnant, she was diagnosed with a “massive blood clot” in her brain.
In an Instagram post dated December 29, 2024, Gadot shared that she had been enduring severe headaches for weeks, which left her bedridden. Her condition worsened until an MRI confirmed the alarming diagnosis. Gadot expressed how her family had to confront the vulnerability of life at that moment. She emphasized how quickly things can change and how, during that challenging time, her sole wish was to survive and be with her family.
Gadot’s medical emergency led to her being rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. During the procedure in March, she gave birth to her daughter, Ori, who is now 9 months old. Gadot explained that Ori’s name, meaning “my light” in Hebrew, was chosen deliberately. Before the surgery, she told her husband, Jaron, that their daughter would be the light at the end of this difficult journey.
In her post, Gadot extended her gratitude to the medical team at Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles, thanking them for their support. The actress, now “fully healed,” encouraged her followers to listen to their bodies and be aware of any discomfort or changes in health. She highlighted the importance of being attuned to one’s body, as early detection can be life-saving.
Gadot also shared her surprise in learning that one in 100,000 pregnant women in their 30s+ develop a blood clot in the brain, a condition known as CVT. She stressed the importance of early detection, as it is treatable and can save lives. Gadot explained that while rare, the condition is something women should be aware of, and knowing about it is crucial for taking proper action.
The actress clarified that she did not want to scare anyone, but rather hoped to empower others to take action regarding their health. Gadot expressed that if her story motivated even one person to prioritize their well-being, it would be worth sharing. She also acknowledged the disconnect between the carefully curated social media moments and the fragile realities that people face behind the scenes.
Gadot included a link to an informational page about strokes from the American Heart Association in her post, further highlighting the importance of awareness. She also shared the post on her Instagram Stories, hoping her message would reach as many people as possible.
Although Gadot’s Instagram announcement in March about the birth of her fourth child did not mention her medical crisis at the time, she shared a heartfelt message. In it, she welcomed Ori with love, expressing how her daughter had brought immense joy and lived up to her name, symbolizing light in their lives. Gadot’s post radiated gratitude for the new addition to their family, referring to Ori as a blessing that had made their hearts full.
