Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Forsaken map comes to quite an intriguing ending to look at. It took a character’s sacrifice to end the apocalypse once and for all. Also, the entrapment of a scary entity haunted the game towards its ending. As things went down, we saw connections and easter eggs pointed from the past of the game and what we can look forward to as the franchise moves on. From memos suggesting a bigger conspiracy behind defeating the Forsaken to characters having their own motives. Here is a look at what we thought about Forsaken, its ending, and the easter eggs they told us about.
So for explaining the ending of Forsaken we will begin by looking at what exactly went down. Which character gave his/her sacrifice in order to lead the humans towards victory. Then look at the aftermath of the capturing of Forsaken and what it means for the future world. The look at the missions and future plans the Director has in store for this entity. Lastly, what do these future plans suggest about the story we are leading to. So let’s began by taking a look at what went down in the ending of Forsaken and then we will move to the Easter Eggs.
Forsaken Ending Explained – What Went Down
The ending of Foresaken saw Samantha challenging the Forsaken and promising to put an end to him. Despite Maxis trying to stop her, she went inside the Forsaken portal. Moments later we saw that entire entity finding its way into a chamber around. As it was all over, a monitor showed that all the outbreak zones around the world have started collapsing. Weaver thanked Sam for it. The chamber was taken away. Then a memo on a monitor revealed about the capturing of the entity.
Post that, every other member of Requiem is arrested. The Director on his part relinquishes his chair after watching it go down like that. Then we cut to five years into the future. We are in Japan where a mysterious individual is asking for the location of an island. The shopkeeper whom he asked to didn’t have a clue on why this man wants to go there. He believes there is nothing out there. The man reveals himself to be Peck who says he is looking for his friends.
So there are a few easter eggs that surround this shocking ending of Forsaken. They tell more about this story that we are being led to. Let’s start off with the message/memo that showed on the monitor after the chamber was taken away. The memo is pretty similar to the one we saw in Maur Der Totem’s ending. It kinda serves as the continuation for the memo for the same.
The memo from Maur Der Totem mentioned Project Janus’s continuation but one problem that was stopping it. Now coming to the memo of Forsaken’s Ending, it suggested about Entity’s capturing and about breaches closing. It seemed like the capturing of this entity was always the mission of the Director. Also, Maxis no longer being the problem among them. Project Janus now goes in full force with this capturing which could have been the problem mentioned in Maur Der Totem’s memo. Well why Requiem are arrested, we can say probably because they know too much already.
Another thing fans have pointed out was when Director left his chair. It also suggests why capturing the entity was always the mission. When he left after everything was done. We saw a snowglobe with a house, the same as Monty’s house. The one Samantha played with as a kid which comes from Revelations. Apart from there was a picture of a family that hints at a story that suggested about Director having a family.
Lastly, we come to the shocking return of Peck towards the end of Forsaken. He somehow went on to survive the zombie horde returning with a burnt face. Now the reason why he may be approaching this island is still a mystery. But throughout his time in the game, he always had his own motives and was on his own. Apart from that, at this point, both the Director and Peck might be looking to a new beginning. We may soon find out.
