Things are shaking up in the girl group DIA’s fandom as the former member of DIA, Somyi has joined PandaTV. They are known as T-ARA’s sister group. DIA debuted under MBK Entertainment in 2015 with seven members, Eunice, Jueun, Huihyeon, Yebin, Chaeyeon, Eunchae, and the former member Somyi. Even though the girl group had bangers, their debut didn’t get them much success. And with the company sending the group members to different survival shows. Their popularity went up and down like a roller coaster. But after years of being an average girl group who just exists in the shadows, DIA made it to the search bars once again. As the former member, Somyi decided to start her career once again.
During DIA’s 2020 comeback, Somyi has been inactive in the group’s promotion activities. Making fans wonder if anything was wrong with her or if she was planning to retire. But neither the former idol nor their company professionally addressed her absence at that time. But soon after, Somyi shared a few of her body profile pictures and thanked everyone who had helped her achieve the figure. While some fans were shocked looking at the pictures of the Maknae of the group who always seemed so innocent. Many brushed it off, thinking that Somyi is just confident in her skin and isn’t letting the hate affect her.
Somyi’s New Beginnings As “BJ Chomyi
After not having any contact with DIA for three years, Somyi was spotted recently as a BJ on the internet broadcasting network PandaTV. Going by the name BJ Chomyi, Somyi is working as an internet streamer and performing to the live audience. While some of the performance includes gaming, commentary, and mukbang, sexual activities are the most common and engaging performances on the streams. As the streaming network is only available in South Korea, none of Somyi’s streams have made it to the internet. While some netizens who have joined her streams have revealed that Somyi was wearing skimpy clothes. And dancing and fulfilling the wishes of the viewers for the money.

How Are The Netizens Reacting To The Big Turn?
Netizens have a mixed reaction to the Somyi taking a new path. While it is not rare for a former idol to change careers within the industry. It’s not really easy for the former idols to make a good-paying backup career overnight. A netizen and a former DIA fan took to the internet and showed her disappointment over Somyi’s new career. Calling it a reality check, the netizen said that at the start, she was worried about Somyi as people would call her ugly on the V Lives. But now with her becoming a broadcaster on an adult network is making her question her choices. As she used to be her fan and even had her photocard.
Telling Somyi to get a certificate or get into college no matter how hard it is. The netizen went on to ask Somyi to reconsider her career choices. While another fan pitched in defending Somyi and saying that she can do whatever she wants to. Understanding the fact that she has a right to do find another job to earn money. And what she’s doing is not illegal either, the netizen asked not to spread hate for no reason. While another netizen pitched in, asking why would she choose PandaTV and not any other respectable streaming service. As she already has a young fanbase looking up to her, she could’ve chosen something that wouldn’t have embarrassed her fans. This scenario had led the netizens into the dilemma that the idols are nothing but the puppets of their agencies and the fans.
While many fans have been fighting over the fact that idols should do anything to keep the fans happy. Instead of fighting or calling out the entertainment companies who pay their idols so little or discriminate between the group members. As they have no other option but to retire and turn to other options.
