Edens Zero is an anime that takes place in a fictional space-faring universe that is inhabited by humans, aliens, and robots who can feel emotions. The universe is divided into smaller cosmos, with the Sakura Cosmos being the cosmos where the story begins! Most planets and locations have futuristic sci-fi elements, along with fantasy stuff as well. The universe of Edens Zero is also the home to various cosmic creatures, such as cybernetic dragons that swarm in a galaxy bordering the Sakura Cosmos called Dragonfall, and there are monsters like Chronophage that can devour planets and they can permanently rewind their time, creating alternate histories without causing time paradoxes. All of these revelations were made in Edens Zero Season 1, as fans now await Season 2.
The story of Edens Zero is written by the creator of Fairy Tail, which is one of those classic shonen anime of all time! It’s one of the world’s most popular shonen anime series. However, Fairy Tail’s creator Hiro Mashima finished the original manga in 2017 before starting his next project in 2018. Mashima’s next manga, ‘Edens Zero,’ was released in 2018. It received positive feedback! Edens Zero is a sci-fi adventure shonen anime that started airing on April 11, 2021. It holds a high rating and is famous, especially amongst Fairy tail fans.

Previously, Edens Zero Season 2 was hinted at by the official Japanese Twitter page after the season 1 finale completed airing on Japanese television. The story features Shiki, who is a human who has been brought up by the robot demon king called Ziggy. He has always been around robots till he meets Rebecca and her companion Happy, and they are unaware that they are Granbell’s first visitors in a whole century. What is ‘Edens Zero’ based on, according to the creator, Hiro Mashima?
Hiro Mashima, the creator of ‘Fairy Tail’ and ‘Edens Zero’ originally anticipated using another sword and sorcery setting, but that might have been too similar to his previous manga. So rather than a normal fantasy like Fairy Tail, he decided on creating a “space fantasy” adventure series. He coined the term “space fantasy” from his own misinterpretation when he was a kid. S.F. depicts science fiction in Japan. He also said that the genre’s unpopularity in shōnen was an influence, and this was a challenge he wanted to overcome.
Mashima has described that his approach while writing Edens Zero has been something in between that of Rave Master and Fairy Tail. He has combined the predetermined story elements with the new ideas that he drew each week so that he can feel the story on a regular basis. In 2021, Hiro Mashima stated that Edens Zero would continue to have the themes of friendship, family, fantasy, and battles from Fairy Tail, but it may change slightly by the end when the mystery character, Mother is revealed.
