Dragon Ball Super Chapter 78 ended with Vegeta’s surprising act of kindness. He handed over the last Senzu bean to Granolah and asked him to accomplish his revenge. Out of all people, Vegeta understands how it feels like losing his entire race. Maybe that’s why Vegeta thought that Granolah should be the one to bring this fight to an end. Thus, a Granolah vs. Gas showdown is inevitable.
Gas made the wish after Granolah, so naturally, Gas became the new strongest warrior of the Universe. He proved his strength by rag dolling with Goku like an insect. If he isn’t stopped right now, Gas may grow into a god-level threat for the Universe, if not worse. Moreover, the Saiyan duo is in no condition to fight any longer, so all our hopes like solely upon Granolah. Here we bring together everything about the rough sketches that preview the upcoming Chapter 79.
Granolah vs Gas Showdown
The official website of Dragon Ball Super has released mangaka Toyotarou’s rough sketches and layouts for the upcoming chapter. Here, Granolah heals up his strength by consuming the Senzu bean that Vegeta gave him. Feeling stronger than ever, he immediately disposed of two of the Heeters and put back his iconic eye-piece. He advanced towards Gas with the intent of freeing weakened Goku from his grasp.
In the final panels, Granolah powers up yet another time, hoping to become the Universe’s strongest fighter once again. Till now, Granolah has been blinded by his newfound powers. Vegeta and Goku’s exponential rate of growing and unshakable resolve has brought back his senses. Moreover, now that he knows the Heeters were behind his mother’s death, he has all more reason to defeat them.
Yes, Granolah can beat Gas. The ‘strongest’ title is something very temporary. The Universe’s Strongest warrior can find himself dethroned minutes after achieving the power. That’s the only flaw of this wish; someone else will eventually surpass you over time. No one, not even the gods, are sure of their positions, and the same rule applies to Gas. If he lets this power get above his head, he may end up regretting it later.
The three strongest warriors, Goku, Vegeta, and Granolah were in a beaten-up state when Gas made his wish. So, it is possible that the power he gained is lower than a fully replenished Granolah. Furthermore, Granolah has powered up to a state that he has never reached before. So, anyone can win this fight from here. If that’s not enough to convince you about Granolah’s high chances of winning, let me remind you that Granolah sacrificed his life span to attain this power. Now, if Gas has achieved greater powers, he must have sacrificed something too. As you must have already figured out, easily acquired strength always comes at a high cost. Thus, Gas has to have a weakness, exploiting which the tables can be turned.
The Aftermath of This Fight
The preview images ensured that the Granolah The Survivor arc was coming to an end. Even if Granolah survives the fight, he will still have just two more years to live. I won’t be surprised to see Granolah finishing the fight with a sacrificial move, much like Vegeta’s Final Atonement. Well, death has never been an issue in the Dragon Ball Super series. Over the years, we have witnessed so many resurrections that we no longer believe death is a real thing.
No matter how the final Gas vs Granolah showdown ends, the arc has been an eye-opener for Granolah. The vengeful Cerealian learned about Goku’s father, Bardock, who tried saving their lives. Ironically, the people whom he trusted for years turned out to be his mother’s murderers. Another thing that sets this arc apart from the rest is Vegeta’s character development. We can finally say that human emotions have made the fearful Saiyan Prince soft and kind. The arc also debuted Vegeta’s Ultra Ego form, which will be remembered for years to come.
Toyotarou commented that Ultra Ego is intended to be the dark mirror of Goku’s Ultra Instinct transformation. I can’t wait to see this on the anime silver screen. Who knows, Vegeta’s new power-up scene may become something as perennial as Gohan’s Super Saiyan 2 transformation.
