‘Dragon Ball Super’ Reveals ‘Ultra Instinct Roshi’ In The Manga

DBS chapter 39

The Dragon Ball Super Manga is covering the Tournament of Power right now, and there are a lot of things that need to be addressed regarding this. The manga has been pretty flat since the last few months, and there have been just a couple of good moments in the Tournament of Power when out together. I haven’t been impressed by Toyotaro’s work, and I have to say, he’s not doing a good job.

Dragon Ball Super Chapter 39 Spoilers

The Tournament of Power feels very rushed in the manga. It has been inconsistent with power scaling and doing things that just don’t make sense. In this month’s chapter of Dragon Ball Super, all that seemed to be back. I think the idea of having Gohan fight against Kefla was great. I know Gohan shouldn’t be strong enough to take her on, but I expected him to hold his own.

He did do that, and the fight ended in a double knockout. However, we didn’t even get to see the fight. It was basically off paneled, and we saw just 2 to 3 panels of them fighting against each other. I know the scaling didn’t make sense and Kefla should’ve stomped on Gohan I think Toyotaro went with fan service here.

As we moved forward, Goku and Jiren started fighting and Goku’s Super Saiyan Blue Perfected was simply no match for Jiren. He then proceeded to bust out the Kaioken, or a technique that’s akin to the Kaioken to fight Jiren, but again he had no luck. Surprisingly, Master Roshi came in and taught Goku how to fight with your brains, and not brawn.

Master Roshi then proceeded to fight Jiren, and dodge all his moves with Ultra Instinct like movements. This is as bad as DBS manga writing can get. I would have had no problem with it. I love the fact that Toyotaro gave Roshi his moment. However, this is Jiren we are talking about. Someone who beat Hit, a person who could literally skip time, with ease.

Roshi squaring off against Jiren on equal footing is completely crazy, but it is what it is. Roshi in the manga is just a lot powerful from now on, I guess. Goku also managed to awaken Ultra Instinct in the manga later on, and it just lasted for like a second. Again, it was too rushed, and I didn’t like this chapter at all. Let’s hope the next one is better.
