Dragon Ball Super manga has opened up a whole new dimension ever since the massive revelation of what happened 40 years ago. Goku’s father, Bardock, was the one who saved Granolah and Monaito during the Cerealian invasion. The sky fell upon Granolah when he figured that the Heeters were responsible for his mother’s death. Adding salt to the injury, Gas has become the new strongest warrior of the universe.
Elec’s master plan was to summon the wish-granting dragon with Cerealian dragon balls, thereby changing the tide of the universe. Thanks to Monaito’s intervention, Goku, Vegeta, and Granolah didn’t end up killing each other. However, it gave the Heeters enough time to assemble the dragon balls and state their wish before the eternal dragon. Who is the real villain in this story? Here’s everything to know about Dragon Ball Super chapter 78 that completely turned the Granolah the Survivor arc upside down.
Granolah’s Tragic Back Story
Monaito intervenes in the fight and reveals Granolah’s past. It seems that the trait of having a kind heart has always been there in Goku’s family. Bardock, Goku’s father, hesitated to kill Granolah and his mother on that fateful day. Rather, he took them to Monaito, asking him to safeguard the two surviving Cerealians.
However, the plan failed when they came across Elec and his men. Elec killed Granolah’s mother on sight and asked Bardock to kill the child. Thus, Bardock had no other choice but to turn against the Heeters and barely managed to save everyone. Years later, when the Heeters found Granolah out, he was already an infamous bounty hunter. He thought of exploiting his powers instead of disposing of such a resource. Monaito kept quiet about everything. He knew if Granolah tried to go up against the Heeters, he would get himself killed.
Gas, the New Strongest Warrior of the Universe
While Granolah was frustrated at himself for serving the murderers of his mother for so long, the sky turned dark. Someone must have summoned the eternal dragon for granting their wish. Moments after the sky turns back to normal, Gas shows up in the battleground and claims himself the new strongest warrior of the universe.

The Heeters have used the Cerealian dragon balls for their selfish motives. Since this wish was made after Granolah, he is no longer the strongest fighter in the universe. Meanwhile, Gas has grown up all of a sudden. His physique looks like a sturdy adult with very distinct muscles. He creates a 4-pointed spear and stabs Granolah with it. It was a point-blank range attack, and there’s no way Granolah could have avoided it. Goku tries to stop Gas but gets pinned down by Gas’ technique. Gas always held a deep grudge over Bardock for defeating him shamefully 40 years ago, and seeing someone with the same face just reignited the flames of hatred within him.

Vegeta Gives a Senzu Bean To Granolah
While Vegeta and Granolah are on their last legs, Goku remembers that they still have a senzu bean left. He asks Vegeta to find the remaining senzu bean and consume it. Goku had already taken one bean before, so he wants Vegeta to regain his power and finish Gas with his Ultra Ego transformation.

Vegeta finds his armor that he threw off and is relieved to find the senzu bean intact in it. However, instead of having it, he hands it over to Granolah. He bluntly said that he would have easily won if he had resorted to this bean in their fight. He asks Granolah to make the most of this last senzu bean and avenge his dead mother by killing the Heeters.
Can Granolah Defeat Gas?
Granolah will regain his lost powers with the senzu bean, but there’s no way of telling if his powers will be enough to defeat Gas. You see, ‘the strongest’ phrase is something very temporary. The one standing on the top of the power level will eventually be replaced by someone else. If Granolah focuses on his strengths, he may end up pushing his limits yet again and surpassing Gas. (The way Goku and Vegeta fought Granolah)
Moreover, great powers come at a huge price. For example, Granolah had to sacrifice his remaining life span to attain this power. Gas attained even greater powers, so he must have sacrificed something even more precious. Maybe that’s the reason why Elec didn’t make the wish for himself. This ‘cost for power’ I am talking about may turn out to be a huge drawback later on in the fight. The only way of finding out what happens next is to wait for the next month’s issue.
