In this game, the players play as a younger version of the protagonist Dante. The game’s story is set a decade before the events of the first Devil May Cry. Where we see the events of the game is centered around the dysfunctional relationship between Dante and his brother Vergil. The game begins where Dante is at his unnamed shop where a mysterious man arrives with an invitation from Dante’s brother Vergil and brings a form of a demonic attack. Dante understands that this is another challenge by Vergil and proceeds to go to the top of the structure. Devil May Cry 3 Plot Recap
While he was moving ahead, defeating demons, he got attacked by a woman on a motorcycle. The woman’s name was Mary, Arkham’s daughter. Mary came to take revenge on her father, the one responsible for her mother’s death. She reveals that Arkham works for Vergil, and together, they are planning to take Dante’s half of their mother’s amulet and use its power on the tower to connect both the human and demonic worlds.
After several battles and even an encounter with Jester, Dante finally makes it to the top of the tower’s summit and battles Vergil. Vergil stabs Dante with his sword, steals his amulet, and leaves. Dante’s blood releases a seal on Rebellion, which releases Dante’s dormant demonic powers, and he sets out in pursuit. Unfortunately, they get swallowed by a giant whale-like demon.

Devil May Cry 3 Ending Explained
Dante escapes the beast and catches Vergil in a control room in the tower’s basement. Vergil tries to reactivate the tower but is unable to do so. They led to a fight and were interrupted by Mary and Jester and revealed that Jester was the Arkham. Jester convinced everyone to reactivate the tower to reach the demonic world.
He planned to steal the Force Edge to rule a demon-infested Earth. As the spell is broken, the tower transforms, and Arkham is carried to the summit. Vergil disappears in confusion, whereas Dante battles his way back up the tower again. Meanwhile, he had to fight Mary for the right to pursue Arkham and emerges victorious, and Mary lends him her most powerful weapon.
Dante crosses to the demonic world and catches Arkham upon reaching the summit. Meanwhile, Arkham had assumed Sparda’s demonic form, and when overwhelmed by power, Arkham attacks Dante in his new blob-like creature appearance. During Dante’s fight with Arkham, Vergil reappears to help Dante. Together, they work to expel Arkham from the demonic world.
As the two brothers fight together, they can weaken Arkham and land him on the tower where Mary finds him. Mary renounces her name to be Lady, a nickname given to her by Dante as she had refused to tell him her name. Mary kills Arkham, and In the demonic world, Dante and Vergil again fight, but this time it was for the ownership of the Force Edge and the amulet halves. Dante was able to defeat Vergil and meets Lady outside the tower. They become friends and begin a partnership as demon-slayers, and Dante names his shop Devil May Cry.
