The story revolves around a political crossover which happens due to a tragic incident. The State of the Union evening witnessed a huge explosion which annihilates the United States Capitol Building, which killed the President and everyone in the line of succession. Only one person survived, and it is Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Thomas Kirkman. Afterward, Kirkman is sworn in as President, but nobody knew that there was a lot coming ahead.

Netflix picked up the show for the third season on 5 September 2018. The third season is under work, and there is no official release date available. But we are informed that the show will be dropped in the year 2019. The show was usually released in September by ABC, so we can assume that Netflix might too consider the same period.
