Demon Slayer Season 2 is right on the horizon as the anime has been confirmed for a 2021 release. While the manga in itself has finished its run, the anime adaptation for the same is on a rise after the release of Season 1 and the featured film. Demon Slayer: Mugen Train has managed to break records as it became the Highest Grossing Film in Japan surpassing Titanic and Spirited Away. It also became the fourth highest-grossing film in 2020 while also becoming the third highest-grossing animated film in the US after two South Park Movies. So, now that the next season is inching closer, let’s look into the Demon Slayer Season 2 trailer that was released recently.
Demon Slayer by Koyoharu Gotouge is a Japanese Manga that used to be published on Weekly Shonen Jump. Soon enough the manga was adapted into an anime. The story follows young Tanjiro Kamado, an ordinary boy who lived in Taisho-era Japan. Here, there exist Demons who try to consume human blood. One day as Tanjiro’s family is attacked, everyone is killed except for his sister, Nezuko. But now, she has been turned into a Demon. So the story follows Tanjiro’s journey as he joins the Demon Slayer Corps looking to eradicate all demons while searching for a cure for his sister. Later, Tanjiro and Nezuko are accompanied by fellow Demon Slayers, Zenitsu, and Inosuke.
Demon Slayer Season 2 Trailer Released
We first saw Demon Slayer Season 2 Visual as well as trailer back in February 2021. This visual made it clear that the story will have much focus on Sound Hashita, Tengen Uzui. The trailer for the same was only available in Japanese Voice and no subtitles. But now, on 20th May 2021, we finally got the subbed trailer. Demon Slayer Season 2 is set to depict the Yoshiwara Red-Light District, also known as the Entertainment District Arc. Visually, we only saw bits of the Red-Light area as some mysterious women lurk within them. And investigating the district from within are Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke, and Zenitsu, all while they are accompanied by Tengen Uzui.
Demon Slayer Season 2 Release Date
According to the trailer, Demon Slayer Season 2 is set to be released sometime in 2021. Up till now, Ufotable hasn’t announced an official set release date for the anime while only mentioning a 2021 release. Anime is traditionally divided into several release windows, namely Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. Demon Slayer Season 2 didn’t happen to make it into the Spring 2021 season. While a release date for Summer 2021 hasn’t been declared as well. This should mean that Demon Slayer Season 2 will be released in Fall 2021.
This possibility is also being confirmed by several leaks that are popping out on media outlets all across Yahoo Japan. These claim that Demon Slayer Season 2 will release sometime in October 2021. Of course, there is always the possibility that Demon Slayer Season 2 begins its premiere at the end of Fall 2021. It may show its first half of the episodes in this season while releasing the latter half in the Winter 2022 Anime Slate. A similar pattern of release was observed in Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 1 and Jujutsu Kaisen. These were initially released in the Fall 2020 slate, only to end in the Winter 2021 slate. This should be available to watch on Netflix, Crunchyroll, and Funimation.
What will be the Plot for Season 2?
Demon Slayer Season 1 ending had Muzan Kibutsuji speak to his Twelve Kizuki members. Here, Enmu reveals his desire to grow stronger and consume more of Muzan’s blood. He plans on challenging one of the six Upper Kizuki members to replace them at the top. During this scene, we see the silhouettes of the Upper six, out of which two of them stand out. These are Akaza and Daki. Akaza had appeared at the end of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train. Meanwhile, Daki is to appear in Demon Slayer Season 2 as its primary antagonist.
The season will primarily take place at the Yoshiwara Red-Light District. Here Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke, Zenitsu, and Tengen Uzui will go to investigate some mysterious occurrences. Mysterious robed women lurk and watch the Demon Slayers as Daki gives off a wicked smile in the trailer. We have seen how strong an Upper Kizuki Member can be against a Hashira, so our protagonists should be on their guard as they enter the premises. We may even see Tanjiro and the gang head to the Rengoku Residence as the former Flame Hashira asked him to do so in his final words.
