The Demon Slayer franchise is a certified success story. Be it the source manga, the 2019 series, or the 2020 film. Demon Slayer anime, based on the manga written by Koyoharu Gotouge was the biggest anime of 2019. There was an immediate positive response from fans in regards to the story, animation, music, and character designs. The series ran from April 2019 to September 2019, during which it had fans falling head over heels for it.

The manga, which ran from 2016 till 2020 was a major success as well. It had reached its 17th volume during the release of the anime in 2019. Shortly after the anime aired, the sales of the manga were piqued. In 2019, 20 million copies of the manga had been sold. This can be considered as one of the biggest wins in the anime industry. As of February 2021, the manga has sold 150 million copies. This includes the copies in both online and offline platforms. However, this does not include unofficial platforms and hence, the original number can be considered far greater than what is known. The manga ended in 2020 with 23 volumes. It is available for reading on Viz Media and Shueisha’s Manga Plus app.

In 2020, The Demon Slayer movie,  Demon Slayer: Mugen Train was released. The movie is a sequel to its 2019 series. It continues after the events of the series. Demon Slayer: Mugen Train was unavailable internationally for a long time. On April 23, 2021, the Demon Slayer: Mugen Train US opening took place. Once again, the response received by the franchise is overwhelming.
